Another reason not to hire Caldwell

Or maybe Manning just got better because of more experience and well he's Manning. In any event, will this guy work with Staff or will it be the OC.

If you want stats, look at Peyton's stats the year before Caldwell was his QB coach (2001) and Caldwell's first year there (2002).

Comp-Att Cmp% Yards TDs INTs
2001: 343-547 62.7% 4131 26 23
2002: 392-591 66.3% 4200 27 19

Before Caldwell was his QB coach, Peyton's best completion % was 62.7%. After Caldwell came, Peyton's worst completion % has been 65% in 2006.

Sounds like they should have hired him for the QB coach...not the Head coach!

And Caldwell proved he couldn't fuck it up with Manning at least. Even if you want to give him no credit for 2009 and 2010.

That is true. Too bad it wasn't a package deal.

Flacco was also throwing the ball 50 times per game with a running game that didn't do shit and an offensive line that would make the Wolverines OL look good. Oh and you know, Baltimore's WRs this year were brilliant.

I don't think there's an OC in the league that could have fixed that mess.

Sooo now youre backtracking? Cause before you said he worked well with qbs....now youre just making excuses why he wasnt successful.

The bottom line is he had 1 good year as a coach and that year was 99% peyton and 1% caldwell.

The other bottom line is we just hired a OC that was about to be fired from an offense that was 29th in the league. Soooo while you and others want to give him the benefit of the doubt cause of injuries....a really really well run baltimore organization wasn't giving him the benefit of the doubt and was getting rid of him.

Mike McCarthy coached San Fran to dead last in 2005. Then GB hired him.

Ravens had talent and injury problems on offense.

Lions don't have that problem. Expect Super bowl type success.

so you give him credit for the SB win last year but make excuses for him in 2013 because of injury and talent problems. At least you are consistant!

Dude you are crazy if you think this is a Super Bowl team.

Nothing says Super Bowl type success like Detroit Lions.

Do they still have the Bud Bowl? Maybe the lions can be the third team..

I'll be shocked if they finish above .500 next year.

Really? They play GB and Chi twice, Car, NO, NE, AZ. Unless we play all the other teams when they are on hot streaks(which could happen like this year), we will easily be 14-2 in Caldwell's first year. Just like what he did in Indy.

Staff is better than Manning was at the time, at least 15-1.

It's those damn hot streaks you got to watch out for. Coincidentally that's the same advice I give to my wife on laundry day.

No doubt

Good thing Caldwell is inheriting a SB-caliber team from the retiring HOF coach Jim Schwartz.

Lmao.. lions dont have that problem? Every week you blame a lions loss on a best toe injury in 2009 or bush was out 3 plays cause his shoe fell off or calvin being out or broyles is injured or nate or fox or Houston or Quinn or delmas or or or or or.
