AP and Coaches poll's are out

The AP withdrew from the equation because it names its own national champion, and the AP realized, correctly, that it was counterintuitive to be part of an equation that could potentially name a national champion other than its own, as happened in the 2003 season.

I don't know that the Harris Poll is any more corrupt or incompetent than the AP poll or the coaches poll.

How the hell does ARkansas move up from 10 to 7 in the coaches poll after getting raped their last game ? I know some teams lost but WTF. They don't deserve to move up. If they would have at least competed I could understand. Also NO WAY the SEC deserves 4 teams in top 15. I hope and pray that they get stomped in all their bowl games.

SEC voter collusion...

it's happened time and time again. It's why the SEC champ is basically guaranteed a championship birth, regardless of how many losses they have.

There is an interesting article on ESPN showing how OSU should get the nod over Bama for the BCS title. According to the article Bama hs only 3 wins against teams with winning records while OSU has 5. Bama only has 2 wins in top 25 compared to 4 for OSU. SOS OSU is ranked 10 while Bama is 38. WTF!!!

Coaches poll is fk'd up. They have the favorites and own agenda.

Mitch]I don't understand why the AP is still around? Do they have their own thing going or what?

they've been ranking games for decades. why should they stop just because the BCS doesn't include them?

at least it gives us another form of rankings to compare and contrast with the garbage the BCS gives us.

Right.

Plus when there's an explosion and a chemical fire at a plant in Billings, MT, or something like that, this is the kind of things that folks across the country might like to know some of the details about.

or if the military wants to invade some country, they can repeat verbatim whatever fabricated evidence they want to base the invasion on. so, yeah, like you said, they have other purposes too.

Really, that kind of shit comes from the New York Times and the Washington Post directly, rather than off the AP wire.

My friend text me and said the computer polls are out... Michigan was 11th and MSU was 20th.. but i cannot find it and he must not be by his phone..

yeah, I guess so. The AP repeats some of it, amplifies it though when they "report" on it, like an echo chamber.

anyways... the possibility of a re-match pisses me off. I'm not watching it. OkSt vs. LSU, would be interesting. I'd be rooting for Ok St to smoke them. I'm so sick of hearing about how great the SEC is.

I hate the Southern man and his sleazy "good old boy" way of gaming the system. Fuck the south. I can't wait for us to bring the ruckus next year vs. Alabama.

sagarin's rankings are out. you can find it on the USA Today site.

no Big Ten team qualifies under his formula (the elo-chess part). I think the highest Big Ten team is wisconsin @ 20th. We're like 24th. He has Alabama 2nd, OkSt 3rd. link: http://www.usatoday.com/sports/sagarin/fbt11.htm

he does have us finishing 9th in his predictor, which has been that way all season. weird.

Wasn't UM like 22 last week in Sagarin? So 2 worse.

Just saw that Okla St has 7 wins vs. teams better than .500 (Ala 3) and 5 wins vs. 'ranked' teams (Ala 2). So there is a real possibility that Okla St. could jump to #2. I think this scenario has been spelled out on other threads though that say that it would then be Ala vs. TCS in the Sugar and Michigan vs. Stanford in the Fiesta. Don't finalize those plans just yet.

(I realize that 'ranked' teams above for Okla St. come against mostly Big-12 teams which have been heavily favored in the rankings, esp the computers)

The 'best' and the 'worst' computer rankings (of the six) are tossed. Sagarin is our worst, thank God.

If Michigan draws an SEC team you can count on our team to do our part.
GO BLUE!

Only 2 SEC teams I wouldn't want to play. LSU and Bama are the real deal. Everyone else is beatable IMO. Just think if OSU gets the nod over Bama for the championship. That would leave Bama there for an at large bid, Yikes. You never know, UM might get Bama in the Sugar. I wouldn't want that one if I were you.

No, I wouldn't want Michigan to face Alabama at this point. But if that comes to pass, the Team will step up to the challenge. If they play the way they played against Nebraska, then it will be a good game.
GO BLUE!

Mitch]I would love a UM vs Stanford game.

that'd be the ideal matchup, IMO.

Beatable, but not a pushover.
