END THE MADNESS!!! 2nd straight sweep at the hands of an AL West team? 6 game losing streak and 2-9 over their last 11 games. Last time Tigers had a 7 game losing streak was back in April/May 2011. Currently 4 games back of the 1st place Twins/Royals and only 2.5 games ahead of the last place White Sox.
Greene and Hahn faced each other back on May 25th, a 4-0 A’s win.
Greene is coming off arguably the worst start of his professional career when he was tagged for 7 runs, including 5 home runs, in 1 2/3 innings against the Angels on Saturday. He held the A’s scoreless for 5 innings before allowing 5 hits and 4 runs in a game-changing 6th inning last Monday. Greene has a 8.12 era over his last 8 starts.
Hahn gave up 4 runs -- 3 earned -- on 7 hits in his start last Saturday. Prior to that start, Hahn recorded his 1st career shutout in a 4-0 victory over the Tigers last Monday in Oakland. It was the only game this season he lasted longer than 6 1/3 innings. The Tigers managed just 4 hits -- all singles -- off Hahn, who had to navigate around 3 errors.
In their last 11 games, the Tigers are 2-9 overall and have hit .218 with a .284 on-base percentage. They've been thrown out 8 times in 12 stolen base attempts.
Oakland's defense has committed 10 errors behind Hahn, whose 8 unearned runs this year lead the AL. Wednesday, the club made its 53rd and 54th errors of the season.
Rondon is nearing his return from bicipital tendinitis and will join the club in Detroit on Thursday. However, he's unlikely to be activated before Friday, manager Brad Ausmus said. The right-hander tossed 1 1/3 innings (33 pitches) on Wednesday for Triple-A Toledo and felt good after the rehab outing.
Today's forecast in Detroit calls for mostly sunny skies and temps around 75 degrees at first pitch. There's a 20 percent chance for rain around 2 p.m. today.
