A's @ Tigers 6-4-15 Game #55

Vogt has to come out of the game with a leg cramp after chasing after that foul ball. Muncy in at 1st.

would have been super awesome if they could have gotten 2-3 more there in the 9th. but.. it's just another loss, 7 in a row. losers. losing record at home, back to back sweeps at the hands of ave AL West teams. Team is going nowhere fast. Last place by this time next week if not sooner.

STREAKS AND STATS

Miguel Cabrera extended his on-base streak to 23 consecutive games with an RBI single in the sixth inning.

Miguel Cabrera tied Bill Freehan for 12th in club history with 2,502 total bases. Next up is Willie Horton with 2,549.

The Tigers' seven-game losing streak is their longest since April 26-May 2, 2011.

Tyler Collins' HR in the ninth was his first of the year.

Daniel Fields' double in the ninth was his first MLB hit.

Sweet news.. My new edger works great except I bit off more then I can chew and my back went out..

Oh and the errors the tigers committed cost us the game!!!!

team play!!!!!

Edging your yard for the first time in years is like watching the tigers this last month..

I was swearing like every 2 minutes...

Bookmark it the next time someone says three game sweeps are hard. It can be done!
Talk about a team falling down.
No bench to fill in for injury players!
Weak bull pen.
Starting staff gone south.
Management can not build for future.
Buy FA's and resign players too high . No money for support players. Stars and scrubs. Problem is too many scrubs starting.

Build for the future. With what!? No farm players. Too much money in too few players!

Eventually, the team is going to bounce back. I'm not sure that means they'll bounce all the way back into the playoffs, but they aren't as bad as this losing streak implies (just as they weren't really as good as that winning streak to start the season).

The Tigers are hard to watch of late, but putting things in perspective, we lost Verlander, Martinez, Avila, Rondon, and Nathan, and we're *only* 5 games back with over 100 games to play. If I were presented with that list of injury losses before the year, I'd have said we'd be 5+ games below .500 and likely sitting in last place. That said, they better start winning some games again soon.

Is this when we all say "At least the Lions will play soon.."

Since April 20th

MIN 27-13 .675 WPCT ---- (198 Runs or 4.98 Runs Per Game, +49 run diff)

CLE 22-19 .537 WPCT 5.5 GB (197 Runs or 4.80 Runs Per Game, +19 run diff)

KCR 20-18 .526 WPCT 6.0 GB (156 Runs or 4.11 Runs Per Game, +12 run diff)

CHW 19-21 .475 WPCT 8.0 GB (149 Runs or 3.73 Runs Per Game, -36 run diff)

DET 17-25 .405 WPCT 11.0 GB (153 Runs or 3.64 Runs Per Game, -44 run diff)

DET's Pythagorean Record is 26-29. They have 2 more wins than what one would expect based on their run differential.

Yes, they have had injuries. But most teams have to deal with injuries as well. We just don't have anyone on the farm worthy of stepping up and playing at least "replacement level" baseball.

Avila starting = 12-8 .600 WPCT

McCann starting 14-16 .467 WPCT

Holaday starting 2-3 .400 WPCT

Is this a coincidence? I don't think so.

I think that is mostly a coincidence. Avila was the starter during the hot start but had very little to do with it...he just happened to be the catcher for most days.

Tom, look at the records with the various DET catchers over the last 3-4 years and by far Avila has a better record. So, again, coincidence maybe for 1 year or for a short period, but not over 3-4 years.

I thought we were talking about this year

2011-2015 Game 55

Avila starting (67.4% of games) = 280-194 .591 WPCT

Others starting (32.6% of games) = 114-115 .498 WPCT
