The article said we're at $122 million right now....Is that simply adding rookies + min contracts to fill out the roster? I don't think that'd cost $18 million

What's working in Detroit's favor is the fact that the FA market will be even more flooded than last year. Remember when we thought Houston was going to get a 4-5 year deal at $5 million per year? And who would've predicted Tulloch's deal? I wouldn't be surprised to see similar things happen around the league this year. Mayhew will sit back and let the market come down for players.

True, but a bunch of players around the league signed short, cheap deals last year.

Some players will get paid, but a bunch of players will have to take one or two year deals. Its not a great year to be a FA.
