Being played tonight. Nick Ward can't be that out of shape. He played 2 minutes coming out of halftime...this team looks bad. Seeing Van Dyke and Ahrens play is atrocious, sad, awful, disfuntional and flat out garbage. This is the worst team we've had in a long long time!

Why is Harris not playing? What in the fuck are these lineups? Izzo has lost it

I know he's a walk on and I shouldn't have high hopes for Goins but he is freaking terrible on the defensive end

Nice loss by our hockey program today too. Glad Anastos is still in charge, thanks Hollis!

I've been watching MSU since 1999 and I can honestly say this is our worst sports year of my lifetime

can't blame this one on a tough travel schedule so what's the excuse going to be? not injuries - we should be able to beat the NE's of the world with our second string.

looks like a pretty even game on the stat sheet, which is a problem considering the opponent. so we played weak competition evenly and because we couldn't stop them, lost the game by shooting poorly from 3 and like shit from the line.

In the end we have 3-4-5 star guys getting beaten or neck and neck with 2 star guys. I know we get everyones best game at home but this team is avg regardless of "talent". My expectations have been below avg since the start of the season.

I was accused of "being a negative Nelly" but im just a realist. I hope we somehow pull it together but the chemistry just isnt there and we are missing key personnel on top of it. This is the worst ive seen since both sports in the same year since 93?

I don't want to make excuses but we have a lineup right now where 2 walk-ons are getting significant minutes, one of whom is trying to play center at 6-6. The team needs Bridges back in a bad way.

That said Izzo isn't really getting the most of anyone on this roster right now, save for perhaps Ward. Langford is playing like anything but a McDonald's AA (or not being given the chance), and if the hamstring injury is still setting him back, then there's something wrong with that. Harris has been mostly awful except for some moments here and there and he was the one veteran who really needed to step it up and hold things together. Ditto for Nairn.

And yes the schedule was really stupid no matter who he thought he might have had on the roster ahead of time. Not just the opponents, but the insane travel involved.

I unfortunately predicted this team would make the sweet 16 still after the Kentucky debacle. I know anything can happen the next 3 months and crazier things have happened but I'm really regretting that proclamation.

Also nothing in all of sports angers me as much as poor free throw shooting. It's absolutely inexcusable and is costing us games.

I love Izzo and quite frankly trust him to right the ship but without Schilling this team isn't going anywhere.
I think the game has passed Izzo and he hasn't really adjusted. He loves short point guards who can't shoot. There are teams that have point guards that are a couple inches shorter than our center!! Tum Tum brings absolutely nothing to the team. Bigger guards abuse him and all he's really good for is a charge or two on the defensive end. I don't think that's worth playing 4 on 5 on offense every damn trip down the floor. Also, we have an athletic team, extend the fucking defense out a little bit! We get torched by the 3 because we allow people to catch the ball with so much space. Put some pressure on the guards.

Tum is only semi valuable on the defensive end a little or also when we can get out and run on a fast break, then he's though to contain. Last year he was ok because that team could really get up and down the floor. It truly is 4 on 5 in a half court setting with him in the game though. You can get away with that when you have a guy like Travis Walton who can shut down a guard on the defensive end, but Tum is certainly no defensive mastermind like Walton was. It's tough to justify giving him many minutes.

One telling stat is that we barely get any steals and yet at the same time commit a lot of fouls (an issue every year since they decided to start calling games tighter). We probably need to sag some given the lack of size (and depth) inside, but the flip side to that is we seem to getting torched regularly from 3.

The thing about Walton that still hasn't even come about with Nairn is Walton found a niche offensively his senior year. If he had an open 17 or 18 footer he didn't hesitate to take them and knocked down a fair percentage and averaged I think about 6 ppg his senior year. Nairn has nothing to hang his hat on offensively. He should be tough to contain off the dribble but when he does get to the hoop he can't get himself under control enough to finish the layup most of the time.

For good as a leader he supposedly is, that is far from ideal when your best leader isnt a very good player. And this team seems to have no leadership at all between being so young and most of the veterans offering nothing so far.
