BB Article

yes, because 60 PA is a big enough sample size to say he sucks rather than his career .390 OBP in the minors. and who fuckin cares about his age? he would be starting for a WEEK till Dirks gets back ffs. Id MUCH rather have a week of seeing what Young can do rather than a week of Boesch continuing to have awful at-bats and butchering routine plays in the field. young CANT do worse simply because he is a much, much better fielder than Boesch. Young is also a better option than Kelly. He's younger, faster, a better fielder, and had better MiL numbers.

How many 30 year old minor leaguer's come up and do well? And I see him suck in his 60 PA so show me he's better? Because he can hit pitchers who never make it to the show themselves?

You're in a losing battle here just because of BB suckiness.

whatever. im done trying to make you see a point you refuse to see.

BB is going to start hitting better now that Lloyd finally got around to doing his job. (Sorry I tried to say that nicely but don't have time to come up with a nicer way to say that right now)

i still kinda doubt he will. spotting a flaw is one thing, being able to fix it is another. i just dont have the confidence that boesch will start hitting nearly well enough to offset his terrible defense.

He has in the past, if you can do it some of the time, you can do it all of the time! Or so they say.

the more he plays though the smaller his sample size of good hitting gets. his career numbers are now decidedly below average at best (98 wRC+, .321 wOBA, .735 OPS, and only 35 homers in more than 1200 PAs, and they get much worse if you take away his scorching hot first 300 PA or so). thats average maybe for a 2nd baseman or something, but awful for a corner outfielder...especially one that plays abysmal defense. the more he plays and especially the more he plays badly, the more apparent it becomes that he is just not a good player.

I'm sure many thought last years AJ was his ceiling. And look at him now. A success some of the time, like BB, has a better chance than a 30, none of the time, year old. Even with his small sample of 60 PA.

every time you say this to prove your point it instead invalidates your argument because 60 PA tells you exactly nothing about someone.

So for 7 years teams have looked passed him in spite of his awesome minor league numbers? Because of his hidden talent?

I thought I posted a story that Boesch said he didn't care about the mechanical flaw in his swing, he just wanted to hit better....this after Lloyd told him. From what is said, it's difficult to change the muscle memory, and in Boesch's case, the bat more towards horizontal/angle than more straight up.
While I was reading that, couldn't help but think of what cringe used to say during his times of suckiness, that he was just going to go up there and swing away.

Oh no, the Inge approach ;-)

uggg, how is he supposed to hit better if he doesn't care about mechanical flaws, this doesn't make any sense, I just want to know how long it was before the tapes got broken out cuz my impression is this just occurred a couple of days ago when it should have occurred weeks ago IMO

As an MLB player (especially a fringe one like BB), if you are in a huge slump and you yourself aren't watching all the tape you can, asking Miggy for advice, bugging the hitting coach, manager etc. for assistance then fuck you...you don't deserve to be a major leaguer.

ah fuck it. young was SUPPOSED to be good on defense and walk a lot with low K totals, but 6 Ks in 7 AB with a god-awful play that lost us the game is enough for me to say he can go down now too. boesch or kelly still need to go when dirks is back.

Welcome to the dark side.
