Best MLB Teams of alltime

Suddenly I do not feel as bad about the 1907 Tigers losing to the 1097 Cubs in the WS.

10. 1907 Cubs
479. 1907 Tigers

Does it seem that this is more of a list of the ranking on whatever scale they're using of just about every modern team, not just the best ones?

And how can you be best of the best and not win a WS. That should be a criteria. This list blows.

On a side note - I haven't been paying a lot of attention to MLB with the Tigers' poor start, but I just looked at the standings and wow - the Atlanta Braves are on a pace to set the modern era record for ineptitude.

They'll probably get better, just like the Cubs won't play .800 ball for the entire season.

I hate the Cubs. Just because their manager skipped out on his former team and went to a team he knew was stacked. Brad Ausmus could win with the Cubs.

But what about the long suffering Cubs fans?

Assuming the Tigers continue on the road to nowhere, wouldn't you be happy for them if the Cubs won it all?

Wasn't Dexter Fowler a FA that nobody wanted. A switch hitting CF with an OBP of .462 and only signed a one year contract. Sounds a lot better than Cameron Maybin!

Nope. Mostly because when I see the the Lions fail year after year I can say "at least we're not the Cubs."

What does that have to do with the manager? He didn't sign him.

my brain got sidetracked. I was looking at the team and how stacked they were and the first guy I saw was Fowler.

It has nothing to do with the manager.

I honestly think Maddon took a bit of a risk going to the Cubs. Sure they are a huge Market, but this was a team that had one of the worst records in baseball the 5 seasons prior to Maddon joining them:

2010: 75-87
2011: 71-91
2012: 61-101
2013: 66-96
2014: 73-89
---------------------
2015: 97-65 (Maddons first year)

They were not a good team at all...by 2014 they had accumulated some young talent, but they were unproven and by no means guaranteed success.

I think Maddon has turned the Cubs into a juggernaut, suggesting it was a fail proof squad of all world talent similar to the stacked Yankees teams of the 90's is a bit of a slight on Maddon, who I think is the best manager in all of baseball. I would give my left Nut to have Maddon coach the Tigers.

I personally like the Cubs - they are my favorite team outside of the Tigers, and I would love to see them win the WS one of these years (as long as its not at the Tigers expense).

Best teams don't always win. WS winners '01 Diamond Backs, '03 Marlins, '06 Cards, '10 Giants, '14 Giants come to mind recently. '54 Giants, '87 Twins, '88 Dodgers, '90 Reds ... there are many teams that have won a WS that were not the best in the RS.

You mean teams that have the best records don't always win? But if you win a WS you were the best. IMO.

I just don't thing a manager can make a team into a juggernaut. GM gets the players, or drafts them and players perform. Plus you have a pitching coach and hitting coach. How much can a manager help? They don't make anyone better. Lineup and coaching decisions during a game is pretty much all they got.
