lol...Couldn't be because he asks for retarded contracts, no way!! Dude has nobody but himself to blame for declining the qualifying offers for both players. Fuck this greedy little prick, what an asshole.

Major League Baseball will investigate Scott Boras' claims that anonymous comments in a recent ESPN article "damaged" the market for his clients, Kendrys Morales and Stephen Drew, reports Jon Heyman of CBS Sports.

The quotes in the story negatively affected Morales and Drew, according to Boras, which would be a violation of the portion of the collective bargaining agreement that prohibits executives from making public statements that could injure a player's market.

I would not be surprised if the report is right. Plenty of GM don't like Boras, one of the reasons we were able to draft Porcello was because he dropped in the draft simply because teams worried about his sign-ability with Boras as his agent.

Boras is likely the reason Drew and Morales didn't get grabbed in the offseason, because most GM's knew the asking price would be far beyond their worth. No joke at all, if they has dropped Boras at the end of 2013 season and signed with say...Sheffield, I bet they are on teams playing right now.

Not to mention Boras is probably the one who talked Max out to taking the money the Tigers offered. He's a greedy bastard.

Of course the GM/Owners don't like Boras I mean why would they. Kind of nice to see his clients get screwed for once..

Aside from the lofty price I'm sure the douche is asking for, the attached draft picks is the real kicker. The qualifying offers were more than generous, I'm shocked that Morales/Drew haven't fired him by now since it's pretty obvious he talked them into not signing them.

Morales is a prick too....he was offered a ton of money by LA previously and declined it. Oddly enough he might get another chance there with the Angels' injuries.

Boras is just doing his job....trying to get as much money as he can for his clients. He usually gets it. In these two cases he didn't (yet). I think it has more to do with the first round pick than what they are asking. On a positive note...maybe having these two not getting any offers will make players think twice about not signing that guaranteed $14M payday!

IMHO, neither player is worth the qualify offer ($14.1 Mil) that they were offered. It isn't just about the draft pick, salary has a lot to do with it.

Stephen Drew is 31 years old and he hasn't played a FULL season since 2010. He made $9.5 Mil last year under a 1 year contract.

Slightly above average offensively. Below average defensively. Injury prone. Would you pay him $14.1 Mil? I wouldn't. Then add on the draft pick.

Kendrys Morales is 30 and was out all of 2011. He is a DH/1B type that isn't good defensively.

There is no way I personally would want either on the Tigers, nor would I even want to pay the qualifying offer. And assume most GMs see it this way also. Great, their teams gave them a qualifying offer. They should have taken it.

Boras doesn't make money for unemployed players. greed is a great thing, isn't it?

Maybe there is more to the draft pick than we think.

.255 BAVG .313 OBP .389 SLG .702 OPS

First one is Drew and second one is Jhonny Peralta. JP is a year older, coming off a PED suspension and still signed a 4 year $53M contract.

Average of $13.25 Mil. Which is way less than what Boras wants for Drew.

And yet DD didn't offer him a qualifying offer and the Cardinals did not have to give up a draft pick.

Also, Peralta, despite what people thought, ranked high defensively.

ya, but once you don't get it and you start whining and crying and filing complaints...that's when it goes from "doing his job" to just being a little bitch lol.

I think this is why he is a Cardinal. I think if the Tigers would have given him a Q offer and Drew didn't get one the Cards would have signed Drew and JP would be sitting on the sidelines without a job.

DET did not want to make a qualifying offer, because they were not going to pay Peralta a $14.1 Mil salary. And he probably accepts it if DET makes the offer.

And again, Boras/Drew has already turned down offers greater than what Peralta received. Teams like the Yankees have the need for someone like Drew, but are not willing to "over spend".

While a draft pick is a consideration, it is because both players have priced themselves above their worth that has caused their unemployment. A team of desperation might meet their demands (Ervin Santana) and pay the draft pick price along with the salary, but so far no team is that desperate. The Braves don't sign Santana if Medlen and Beachy are healthy. They sign him to the 1 year, $14.1 MIL and still give up their draft pick. It works for them, because they were desperate. Santana isn't worth $14.1 MIL for the Tigers unless one or two of the starters get hurt.

I have not read anywhere that they turned down an offer better than JP's. The only thing I found was Boras "said" they had a 3 year $39M on the table. I could be wrong...I just googled it and that was the only thing that came up.

As far as JP signing the offer...he might have but he would have been the first MLB player to sign one. 19 free agents have been offered and not a single one has accepted.

Fact is if we made JP a qualifying offer, we would be better off now. He either would have taken it, in which case we would be much better at the SS position, or we would be up a compensation pick right now.

Fact is it was stupid not to offer him one (oops sorry DD apologists) seeing as no player HAS EVER accepted a qualifying offer, it was worth the gamble.

So you are saying there is "collusion" from the players? Because lord knows that does not happen by accident.
