Caldwell says footwork is key for Stafford

I saw him listed at 6'6" 216. I'm 6'5" 216. I could probably replace him and drop as many passes..

But to your point, I agree but I still worry if Staff can be accurate enough..

Stafford is just way too uncomfortable in the pocket. The years behind Peterman and Backus destroyed his poise if he ever had any.

this....guy rushes his throws and does something stupid with his feet even when hes not being pressured. Its the weirdest thing....

As long as you just drop the ball to begin with. Just don't catch the ball then fumble it back in bounds to the opposing team. You're signed!!!

I swear he did that on purpose. I can't explain it otherwise, lol. It was the weirdest play in the weirdest game.

Yes, and I think he got in his bad habit because he got injured early..

Now Peyton gets rid of it quick, he doesn't want the sack or get hit as well but he's much more accurate.

Didn't notice in 2011 with 41 TDs and the defense forcing 34 turnovers to help add those 10 TDs nstead of 31. 17 picks in 2011 and 19 picks aren't far off. Drop rate difference of 3% was the exact comp % difference. Basically Stafford played the same in 2011 and 2013 but didn't get the catch rate help or defensive help (12 less turnovers for better fields).

Stafford isn't accurate.

Stafford isn't accurate.

He's low 60% accurate truly given a proper drop rate. Same as Peyton through this part of his career. We'll see if Caldwell and company get him to mid 60s or higher.

Why do you keep comparing him to Peyton Manning? Count him as a low 60% if you want, there were still many many QBs who had better than low 60% .

I'm not even sure what's considered a drop. If he gets his hands on it, regardless if he has to dive for it with 3 guys on him or does it need to be placed in a certain zone or what..and who makes these determinations.

I've seen some considered drops when the receiver could barely reach it why others that were much easier to catch weren't drops..

I respectfully disagree in that nobody was out there. If the Lions were really serious and smart about taking this organization to the next level, they would have fired Lewand, Mayhew, and coaching staff. A clean sweep. It's obvious their way (Ford Sr.) has never worked. With that firing or cleaning house, it would have created an attractive scenario for a premium GM and Head Coach. Then someone like a Omar Khan would come in and bring Cowher with him. John Gruden is still out there as well but it has to be the right situation for him to drop his easy Monday Night Gig. Now it appears Khan may be heading to Maimi and wait and see, Cowher will be there eventually.

Caldwell is a good coach no doubt. However, he is not going to have any control over personnel. This is not a good thing for him. More of the same unaccountability factor for Lewand and Mayhew. This is why the organization is failing. Maybe they will catch lightning in a bottle but history has proven otherwise.

Pipedream that people think Cowher or Gruden is coming out of retirement or semi retirement, whatever the fuck we wanna call it. The Lions had a plan and that plan was to go after an experienced HC. That's why they wanted Whisenhunt and kicked the tires on Dungy and Gruden. Dungy and Gruden were pipedreams like i said and the Wiz rolled out. Hello, Jimmy C!!! A guy who has been there and done that and has worked with some of the best. They didn't settle. They tried the Dco way but finally went after an offensive minded coach. This hire and these newly acquired coaches are not even close to former coaches coming in. It's a fresh start!!

What I'm saying as some don't see it, even in my caps - HC. Imo, the new OC, former QB coach and whoever the QB is will work with Staff..more so than Caldwell. So if Stafford improves I'll give credit to those two over Caldwell.

Just my opinion..just like Tonys opinion disagreeing with that..

Bullshit ....lol. You said Caldwell WILL NOT work with Stafford. Nice fn try, bud!!

You think he will? That's what the OC and QB coach it's for. Did you look at all Matt's throws as well? Maybe you share the same pdf as lkp does..

Of course he will, you fn idiot. Are you braindead? Will Caldwell focus all his time on Staff?? Absolutely not but he's going to be around the kid all the time. He's going to have input on what goes on with Matt. For fk sakes, he's telling us what Stafford's problems are in a nutshell. He's worked with the best QB (Peyton Manning) of all time IMO. You don't think Caldwell is going to try and instill Peyton's work ethic into him, even a little bit? Damn right he's going to try and i'll bet the fn mortgage on it.
Now saying all this, how does Stafford respond? Is he perceptive? Does he care? Does he want to get better? Caldwell worked with Peyton Manning for God sakes. This is ALL on Stafford IMO.

He worked with Peyton as a OC. When he was HC, nope, unless you want to blame him for the three stiffs he "fixed" when Peyton got hurt.

Stafford did not play the same in 2011 and 2013. He was more accurate in 2011 and I'm not just talking comp. %, I'm talking about hitting guys in the chest instead of over their head or at their knees. Also, he was a little more composed in the pocket in 2011. Like everyone has been saying, he had happy feet in 2013. Even Caldwell just said that they're going to work on Stafford's footwork.

Which is why I didn't say mid 60s. But low 60s Stafford earned that based on a regular drop rate.

He's still not an accurate qb dude. Guy barely threw down field during the first half of the season. Shouldve been up around 70 percent with how much he dumped the ball off to the rbs this year. In the first 5 weeks of the season his average pass traveled through the air an average of 5 yards, which was lowest in the league by an starting qb. Keep fooling yourself LKP, Stafford sucks

I know he worked with Peyton as an OC. What do you think happens to a coach when finally become a HC? Do you think they lock themselves in a room and completely forget about football? Holy fuck! lol

As for the 3 stiffs .....Orlovsky, Painter aaaand ????? I can't even remember who lol. Those guys need a miracle. Give me a fn break! Even you're not that stupid, omg are you?
