Well he's 2-12 against teams with a record of .500 or better. But the schedule looks easy next year so at least we got that going for us.

Get StartedI wonder if anyone has really examined the possibility that the second half turnaround of this team was more due in part to Mayhew's exist and Caldwell's coaching than Cooters?
The reality is (and I am sure the angry people will be here any moment to throw their hands over their ears and yell "NUH UH" repeatedly, so this is for the less emotional more intelligent folks) we have no idea what was happening behind the scenes.
In the second half, some minute adjustments were made, but they were impactful. Ihedigbo sat down behind Quddus. We stopped running the ball as much and went back to throwing the ball. Stafford free-wheeled a lot more. We saw some different receivers get into the mix. Changes on the O-Line. Etc...
No one can really be sure that Mayhew wasn't telling Caldwell which players he was damned well going to play because of contracts, the balance he wanted, etc...
Now, I am in no way trying to make excuses for anything that was done. I don't really care who was at fault last season... the first half completely sucked. Blame everyone for all I care.
But I often find it interesting that fans with the absolute LEAST access to any knowledge at all, think that can tell you who is to blame for every problem, and who should be hired and fired to correct it.
If even ONE person on this board was half as smart as they think they are with this stuff, they would be our team president, and we'd have won 8 superbowls in the last 5 years.
Anyone else, he's one of the worst head coaches in the league. Your head coach isn't supposed to be the third best coach on your roster. That's a recipe for disaster going forward. Yay, we can be good until he can't find a coordinator to coach for him...so exciting.
Your head coach is supposed to impact your team more than being a game manager. And he's not even good at that. So far he has shown he is a good guy who is good at making connections to people. Nothing at football . Lol, that's why he's a joke.

I thought wins and losses were on the QB around here? Holy shit this is confusing.
A soft schedule helps too

Both are terrible against good competition. Super Bowl here we come!
Wins and Losses are 100% dependant on who the fans like and who we want fired in Detroit Tony.
If we win games, Austin and Cooter are awesome. If we lose games Caldwell and Stafford need to go.
That's just how it is, and how it always has been in Detroit. Just ask any goalie ever to play for the Red Wings.

Yes that's it. Definitely not on our inability to score in the second half of games or poor in game management like playing the lateral on the last play of the game.
If someone could give me a name to replace Stafford and Caldwell then problem solved? But nobody can, so......
Or having leads in games and your defense shits the bed. That happens too, but you must have been asleep for that part, right?

You mean that lead where Caldwell had two corners stand on the 50 yard line? That lost happened because I didn't like Caldwell enough according to you and ink.
Well they aren't going to appear out of nowhere like Bettleguise if we say the right name on this message board. The man in charge who could make such moves decided (ie was told by a 90 year old woman) that we are going with the status quo. And hey I am looking on the bright side, the schedule looks weak next year. As long as we play teams with a record below .500 we have to be thinking another playoff exit is in store. That's good for us!
That loss was on Caldwell. I agree, but the "facemask" was a bullshit call and the world knows it.
