Caldwell voted 27th best coach in NFL

And it's 2 games. Not going to crucify him or make an assumption on his whole time management skills based on 2 games only

And motivational leader, players coach, great routines for QBs and players trumps time management by far anyway.

Not exactly sure how that has anything to do with him making an enormous mistake, and then not manning up to it.

And the Jets were going to run out the clock anyway. Indy couldn't have used the time out on offense. They would have just lost it. They wouldn't have gotten the ball block. Correct call to make him snap it an extra time. I agree with the time out by Caldwell and his logic to make them snap it one more time.

Jets would have just spiked it after the LT run. No harm calling that time out by Caldwell.

They allowed a big gain is the reason they lost.

I'm not worried about it. I know he learns from his mistakes. He's a smart guy.

And I know we have the talent to get some nice leads in the 4th Quarter

These aren't hopes. This is knowledge of our talent level.

I'm not at all questioning whether the Lions have talent, because they clearly do, and yes your logic is based on hopes. You have no way of KNOWING a thing like this, as life is unpredictable, especially with our Detroit Lions. You can have all the talent in the world, but if they keep making mistakes at crucial times you aren't going to be up by 21 points on anybody. In 2013 the Lions were up by 21 points in the fourth quarter only two times, and once was against Green Bay at home when they didn't have Aaron Rodgers. Now suddenly because we have Tate, Ebron, and new coaches we'll be up by 21 points all the time? I don't think you understand how big a gap 21 points truly is in the NFL. It isn't college football. You're clearly playing up your zealot/troll gimmick again.

We have the talent, it all comes down to cutting down mistakes at crucial times, and that is the Lions M.O. They have been doing it for years, whether by penalties, turnovers, dumbass plays (Orlovsky running out of the end zone), or bad playcalling/time management. But here's where you tell me that history doesn't mean anything, and then turn around and cite the pedigree of the Giants and Steelers and all their history. I predict double digit wins for the Lions, but would not be shocked at all if they throw some games away AGAIN.

The new coaches and better weapons easily reduce our turnovers by 10. Plus more health for Detroit. This means we are going to obliterate teams instead of losing 9 close games.

For instance, we lost by 3 to Tampa with 5 turnovers and a blocked punt and an injured Houston long TD. We crush them otherwise. Same with the Giants on the bad ref call and pick 6.

The only team that can beat Detroit is themselves and that won't happen with these new coaches and new weapons.

Uh huh. I HOPE you are right because you most certainly do not know for sure. Only a zealot believes they are all knowing.

"That's his biggest mistake in his career." - LKP about 10:40 PM

So what is known by EVERYONE IN THE WORLD as a HORRIBLE mistake, and one that likely cost his team a playoff win, you are now justifying it... AFTER you just said it was a huge mistake, and that was your words verbatim.

That's why no one on here takes you serious.

I looked into it and realized it wasn't a mistake. The media is just dumb for calling it one.

Could have saved the time out to ice the kicker. That's it. But maybe the ice backfires. Misses on the ice then makes the next one.

The Indy defense needed a chance to regroup. But then they blew it giving up an 18 yarder. They were in FG range when the TO was made. It wasn't a mistake.

And Caldwell is great in every other area. It's laughable this is big reason why he is ranked 27th. I really hate the media.

Jets could have spiked it, still hit the 18 yarder on 3rd and 8 and still stopped the clock easily. Just a quicker time out call. And then Indy could ice the kicker. That may or may not backfire. Caldwell did not lose them that game with that time out.

It's pretty much a future fact. Too much talent and great coaching on this team to self destruct with turnovers and penalties.

There's no such thing as a future fact. Calvin Johnson could tear his ACL tomorrow and what happens to your facts then? This is the type of response a zealot would make. You play the role well.

Say things appropriately and maybe we'll take you more seriously. Don't list your opinions and call them facts. Don't predict the future and call it certain. Don't call the team holeless when clearly not every position has a pro bowler. Don't say Peyton Manning would have gone 4-12 with the Lions last year, when he clearly is the best QB perhaps of all time.

That's just off the top of my head. Try to be consistent with your troll logic and it will be more effective too. Just some advice.

Lkp has proven to be the worst future fact person in the universe. He is the anti nostradomus.

Lions are holeless and they will go far in the playoffs. It's not an opinion. I know it based on their talent and coaching. Calvin only needs one leg to be the best WR in the game. Should have went with horse back riding accident.

And Peyton would have struggled big time last year with the drops, lack of run game in 6 games, fumbles lost by weapons and lack of separation by weapons. You can't prove otherwise.

I'm always consistent.

It has been documented, beat down over and over again, Jim Caldwell made an absolutely horrific mistake with game management against the Jets. Why don't you ask Peyton Manning how he feels?

https://backhomeagain07.files.wordpress.com/2011/12/manning-and-caldwell.jpg

Not a person on this universe believes he was doing the right thing calling a timeout. Except you. That's scary.

I explained why it was a good call. Jets still had a timeout and could have just spiked it. Icing the kicker often backfires. Defense needed to regroup but they didn't execute.

I'm sure last year he was making all these exact same claims. That the team was full of talent and playoff bound and nothing would stop them.

Hmm didn't work out too well. But wait "excuse A, excuse B, excuse C, excuse D". I guess it's hard to be wrong when you can just explain everything away to bad luck.

Your point on Calvin is meaningless. And you're ignoring everything I say when you continue to hoot your zealot horn about "knowing" what will happen. What if teams get those lucky INTs again that they shouldn't have? What if we have bad weather? What if we play hot teams again? *Shudders*

None of us can PROVE anything silly. You can't prove that Dan Orlovsky wouldn't have taken the Lions to the playoffs last year over Stafford either. However we can make an educated and reasonable assumption based on what we know.

Injuries, bad refs, weather and bad recovery rates. Won't happen again.

They won't get the turnovers against us. We'll get separation, use Caldwell/Lombardis QB guidelines and have a better recovery rate.

We'll be the hot team. We'll have the division locked up before the 2 weather games in Chicago and GB.
