Next year he has a $24M cap hit and if he is cut it's $13M. The following year his cap hit is $21M but if he is cut it is only $5M. I hope they don't do something stupid and re-structure his contract. My guess is next season will be his last with the Lions.

we throw to him 1 time a game....why pay that much for that? And don't tell me because its all of the bracket coverage he pulls away from the other weapons.....cause he doesn't get that anymore.

Especially with ebron in there pulling all the bracket coverage like a true match up nightmare is supposed to.

A CJ with an injured ankle is the perfect weapon to stop the lateral play. That's worth a minimum of 30 million. I say he is a bargain.

Jon Gruden disagrees with ya tho. Oh, and he showed it multiple times last night how the Lions were doing it. But hey, awesome try, man.....almost!!

the only time I saw it was in the red zone. There is no excuse to not be getting one of the best WRs in the game more targets then we have been. These are not some incredibly hard defenses to figure out....and like I said.....hes not being bracketed consistently like he has been in the past.

First off, Gruden is an idiot. All passes are less than ten yards and you can't hit him more often? Change it up, throw him a pass a yard behind the line of scrimmage. Reverse. Something.

Lol. I was just messing with ya!! I agree...he's not being doubleteamed like he used to, but teams still double the man a ton. You always need to know where CJ is as a defense, but he's making too much money to be a decoy. He has been banged up again recently and maybe they're just trying to protect him?? Not sure though....

I don't see the lions cutting a HOF player, it's a PR nightmare. CJ doesn't have any guaranteed money left. I could see the Lions doing a contract adjustment like Minn d I d with AP. Reduce his base salary from $16 mil to say $12 and guarantee It.

Gruden knows a hell of a lot more about football than you do.

Based on what? Because he's a former coach and now an analysis.

C'mon you know he's an idiot. We all do.

Based on what?? You need it explained to you?? lol. Holy fuck, man...YES, because he's been involved in football his entire fucking life. He's also a coaches son and has coached at every level I think. He gets PAID to talk football. He knows more than you or anybody else on this board. Get real, Mitch!!

Why is he an idiot anyways?? Because he's passionate when he talks about the sport? What's your reasoning for Gruden to be an idiot?

I don't like his commentating, in fact I probably despise it, but Gruden forgot more about football while taking a shit this morning than I will know in my entire life. It's good to note the difference, I think people forget to differentiate.

I never said otherwise. All I said was he's an idiot. I also think Trump is an idiot but I understand he has some business sense. I assume Millen was a better LB than myself but it doesn't mean he's not an idiot.

that would be stupid

I can remember quite a few HOF players playing in more than one jersey over the course of their careers.

Sure...but CJ is 30, not like Favre who wanted to play forever, CJ a model citizen and player and isn't a FA who's current team isn't willing to pay a fair salary...

Gruden is not an idiot, but he's a complete slap. He talked about the Lions defense like they were the freaking steel curtain.
