You can't honestly be happy with this season.
We are only a few games below .500, still a lot of time to come back too.

it might be one of those rare occasions where a hitter does better at the major league level.something about having the ball always being thrown near the plate, and more strikes.
We'll see, but I wouldn't count on it. This team has some major issues and will continue to struggle unless a few key players turn it around.
I'm not super excited yet, he seems to work the count well and put the ball in play though so he doing what he is supposed to do. I like his speed and his defense, him and Ajax is the OF would probably save a bunch of runs in themselves. We'll see how long he can keep it up, but if he has a .280 avg and is stealing bases, he is worth it.

Berry's done a nice job while here, but when Ajax and Dirks are healthy there just won't be a place for him to play regularly, and him toiling on the bench as a late inning defensive replacement or a PR won't do him much good.
It's best to probably send him down and keep his AB's up when Dirks and AJ are back, so if/when we need him again he'll still be sharp.
But he really could fall into 1 of 2 categories right now:
1. He's playing well above his head/lucky(in terms of getting on base)
2. He's seeing more plain vanilla fastball strikes because he's supposed to be an easier out, and he's taking advantage.
No, you have it wrong. When the team isn't expected to win, it's fine to get excited about new talent or promising futures, when the team is expected to win, it's hard to find anything else to get excited about.
There should be no excitement about a team that's 24-28 in a crappy division that went "all in" over the off-season.
WOW....what a stupid point of view.
So media opinion decides if you enjoy watching baseball on a year to year basis??? And it's only ok to get excited about a rookie if the team is overacheiving based on what "experts" say???
Simple minded people make me giggle.
Can I be disappointed about...
Avila
Peralta
Raburn
DY
Boesch
Porcello
2nd base in general
Defense in general
Most of the bullpen
Team record
Hitters 5-9
Leyland batting garbage 2nd
...yet?
Yep.
Grandy Grand Grumperson. Hey, that sounds cool ;-)
Avila has a 112 OPS+ this year.
He's well within the range of what reasonable people expected out of him, no reason to be disappointed in him.
