but to your point, while that may satisfy the most loyal of his base, I think it will be seen as you described by a lot of folks especially hard line immigration voters who don't think Trump can do no wrong.

Some local editorial journalists here in So Cal, who have been hard line border security advocates for years, are nevertheless concluding that the optics of this were so troubling that the procedure were doomed from the start.
So we'll see what the attitudes of hard line immigration voters will be about Trump rescinding this procedure, but - where are they going to go? There's still no one more hard line on border security than Trump. Most - obviously just my opinion - will see it as a forgivable political back peddle in the face of a monumental negative backlash from almost everybody else.
