Carlos Beltran to the yankees

I think the Tigers are gonna miss out on all these free agents from the looks of it. Choo will probably end up in Boston with the way things are going.

I dunno about that, Boston is said to be looking for a RH OF.

also, does anyone else find the yankees strategy to be hilariously awful? theyre trying to sign every bat available, but their pitching is going to be absolutely horrible.

They're the Yankees...what else is new lol.

Not worth that money, not even close. At least in their case it's not a 10 yr deal.

Yankees would be loaded if this were 2006.

I guess CC, Kuroda, Pineda, and Nova are horrible.

Only the yankees can reload and yet get older. Beltran is under contract till he is 40. They gave Kuroda 1 yr and he is 39. Ellsbury is only 30 but a 7 year deal for a player who spends a lot of time on a DL is a huge risk.

And their pitching staff is OK but CC had a bad year. I like Nova but can he duplicate what he did last year and Pineda is very hot and cold. They very well could be looking at another year where most of their players are on the DL.

Because 4 starters are all the pitching a team needs.

Well, their bullpen is about as good as ours. The difference between them and us is that they will actually go out and improve it. For some reason, DD seems to think a closer is the only valuable arm you need down there.

Noted. but overall I would say their pitching sucks.

I would say ours does as well except we have better starters 1-4, and a better closer.

Maybe the Tigers don't want to sign any of them.

You might be right. I thought there were rumors of the Tigers trying to talk to both Beltran and Choo though? Just to drive the price up maybe?

And maybe the Tigers want to go 81-81 and get 3rd place in the AL Central.

I doubt that is what they WANT to do but if they don't make some more moves that is the direction they are heading.

I honestly think that this team with mid level free agent adds will be the favorite to win the central. Just add a platoon LF and a decent BP arm or 2 later in the free agent period when prices usually fall. That said...I don't think most fans will be happy with a team like that heading into spring. I will certainly be disapointed if that is all they do.

We ought to go see what they want for Gardner now. His speed would look nice in our lineup and we've got a clear need in LF.
