Dirks would be a nice 4th OF. Castellanos looks like he wants to go north, and im not talking toledo.

Dirks is hurt again so who knows. But regardless what Nick C. does it's still a long shot.

If anyone supplants dirks for full time status, my money is on castellanos.

What about Boesch ;-). Knowing Leyland, he'll want Dirks the left hitting against RH pitching, assuming he's healthy. And if it goes that route its better to have Nick C at AAA to get more at bats.

I still don't think Castellanos makes the team out of ST.

They want him to mature more, and the outfield is kinds full as it is with Leyland insisting Worth will also play out there.

Also let's not get too excited about what we see in ST, remember the two best Tigers during ST last year were, Ryan Raburn and Delmon Young....how did that pan out?

Dirks can't stay healthy.. He would never hold up over 162 games... Make him the 4th outfielder..

Even Leyland said he isn't a starter in this league. But I believe he's use BB, Kelly etc before Nick C. Next year no doubt but not yet..

I think Leyland will have a pretty quick quick hook on BB this year. He learned from Mudhen. If BB doesn't come out the gates hitting that might be it for him.

Dirks should get 400 plate appearances, 120-130 games, jmo.

his splits weren't all that bad facing lefty pitchers last year
.274/.354/.397 outside of power was ok/average.

It might be why they are giving Kobernus the look see in left,

unless Castellanos bats .500 in ST and vs. some good pitchers too, say enough to give him a bit more at bats to include some righty pitchers, and take away from Dirks play time,
I just don't see him making it to go to Comerica to start the year.

If you read the article, I think he's pretty clear about what he means.

I get it. But last season he said it twice that Dirks was not an everyday starter. His quote was basically "Andy is not an everyday player". Pretty straight forward to me.

His comments in this article refute that exact misconception.

I know for sure Mitch is correct. Leyland may have changed his tune but last year he definitely said that he is not an everyday player.

But who cares what he said a year ago? Comments from a few days ago hold a little more relevance.

I'm just happy that 1 through 5 in the order is cemented with potential all stars. As far as the bottom 4 guys, if they can all hit above .250 I'll be happy. Last year players batting #6 hit .235/.301/.353, #7 .253/.310/.390, #8 .248/.330/.365 #9 .231/.295/.308.

Except you basically said "nah he didn't say that". Maybe when I said he said it you should have just said "okay, I guess he did change his opinion" and end it.
