Chris Houston is still banged up

Same. Just not a fan of Gilbert and his "potential".

to be fair..its not just potential. the kid is a ballhawk with great hands and has proved he can make plays on the ball. Our defense has proved we cant cause turnovers. A guy like gilbert, if his play translates, can do wonders for our defense and this board.....then we wont have to hear LKP talk about how we don't get short fields ever :D

I'm still a fan of Keith McGill or Stanley Jean-Baptiste in round 3.
SJB's getting a lot of love lately as a potential late 1st. i love him as our 2-3 rd pick, but i don't think he's worth it in the 1st

like you, i love Gilbert's potential, but you even said it yourself, "if his play translates"... i believe that Dennard will be more up to speed playing in a pro style defense, and he's already better on the ball. Dennard will probably be a much more consistant pro than Gilbert. i see Gilbert as having boom or bust capability though.

agree...also will depend on what type of defense Austin wants to run. In BAL he wanted the long athletic Jimmy Smith type guys....which would be gilbert. Our defense in the past we wanted press type guys....which is dennard.

As a Michigan fan, it pains me to say this, but I never saw Dennard get beat or caught out of position due to his "lack of speed." The guy can just flat out play his position. It seems like a real smart and rational choice, so that's why the Lions will take someone else.

This is why I want Dennard before Gilbert. I've seen Gilbert get beat far more than Dennard. I'm not saying Gilbert will be bad, I just don't trust the Lions to groom him into a superstar. Dennard just seems safer and at the CB position, I'm all for safe.

And who came up with the expression "banged up?" It's just so weird lol.
