Chris Houston out?

It was alot of close nailbiters. They were 4-5 and they lost 3 games they outplayed 3 good opponents and should of won. Then they got majorly hurt for the final 4. And some of it was fluky. Some those turnovers this year I couldn't believe (Stafford fumble at Green Bay, at Bears 2 fumbles, pick 6 at home against Green Bay, 2 Pettigrew fumbles), many of them unearned by the other team. Fix the turnovers, which they have the talent to do IMO and we win alot more games.

Exactly. That's not a good thing. This isn't "well we loss close games, adding a player or two and suddenly we'll win them" Doesn't work that way. And injuries are a BS excuse. Are you telling me the Lions can have the lead late with injuries yet lose at the end because of those same injuries? Fix the TO's, yeah that's easy.

And a TO at GB or Chicago, that's what happens its football. Or are the Lions never suppose to have TO's?

It is rather easy. It's not something LeShoure(college), Calvin and Pettigrew usually do not fumble that much in a season. Stafford needs to get down to 10-12 picks. Fix the turnovers is the easiest fix. And even some was the bounces. Lions only lost 4 more fumbles compared to 2011 but lost 9 more fumbles in total. The bounces were bad. And we got rid of Logan which helps with that.

It's going to be tough, every game is tough but the Lions have the talent to move the ball, put up points and make enough stops. The 9 turnovers of death (6 direct, 3 inside the 5), 10 FGS starting inside the 40 off a turnover and the 4 special teams scores allowed killed this team despite them doing many good things to make games very close.

They will have some, not 3 or 4 a game though and not directly for points every time. They could play that Titans game over with the exact same rosters and if the titans don't get those 21 fluky points, the Lions roll to an easy win.

The Lions underachieved, shot themselves in the foot, whatever you want to call it but they have alot of talent.

Matt had 16 INT in 2011, he was great but 17 INT and suddenly he's turrible and needs to get it down to 12?

Btw, Pettigrew lost 2 fumbles all year, just two. 3 lost for Calvin, only one more than two other seasons. That's not why they lost. It was the ineptitude of the defense to make a stop.

I'm not arguing with you about talent. But they also have many players with no talent and no depth at all. Same roster, same win total.

And you take out those 3 plays that weren't Avril's fault. 151 yards and 3 less carries. That's 4.15 YPC. The Lions run defense wasn't as bad over the course of the season as everyone makes it out. There was some big gashes and San Fran got us but it's not consistently getting chunks.

....

Sure sounds like the old excuse teams used against Barry --- "He had 200 yards, but take away those three 50-yarders and we held him in check."

It's very different saying what I said over the course of an entire season versus over the course of a game. 3 carries in a season is nothing. Most of the year teams ran at a 4.1 YPC pace. Peterson and Lynch burned us big twice. It cost us that game against Minnesota. It's part of the stats but 4.1 YPC is the usual run defense(which is actually pretty solid), however the overall run defense was poor because they got gashed. It just wasn't a consistent gashing in all 16 games. It was about 3-4 games.

Dude, lol. That's because guys like AP are harder to stop. Every team every season has games they give up yards. That's like saying well we were able to stop Mark Sanchez but couldn't stop Brees.

If you take away all our turnovers we'd have less turnovers.

I realize we can't take them back, they caused the 4-12 record big time but that doesn't mean we'll have the same showing again in 2013.

Logan is gone and I'm confident LeShoure, Pettigrew, Calvin, Bell, Stafford can take of the ball better. I'm confident the redzone offense will be better with Stafford improving. Those 2 things alone and the Lions are much improved.

We won 10 games with Houston, Wright, Berry, Delmas and Spievey and even missed Delmas for 6 games and Houston for a handful in the second half of the season replace by Chris Harris and Alphonso Smith. I don't see the Lions secondary being worse than that in 2013 especially with a draft and free agency to come. They need to find a way to get consistent pressure again and I don't see them doing that if they lose Avril and roll with a rookie. If they lose Avril, they better find a good vet replacement in free agency and whatever rookie they get better produce quickly.

The majority of the year the Lions run defense did at least a solid job. It's like saying we stopped all the mediocre and solid running offenses but then only the best beat us.

Yes the best got us (49ers) and Peterson was having a career year. If it's only the best beating you, that is a good thing that it takes the best to get good yards.

Oh and that 81 yard "run" by Justin Forsett against us. Take that away as well. The man was tackled for only 8 yards.

But you can't. That wasn't a luck 81 yard run. We couldn't stop him. The defense. Who cares what he did the rest of the game.

We did stop him. He was down. No arguing that point. After that play you can complain about the defense as much as you want, they deserve most of that, but Forsett was down on that play and the refs blew it.

Regardless, he basically saying if this guy didn't do that and we didn't do this blah blah blah..
