Coaching openings

How cool would it be for Coughlin to land in Cleveland?

Im not as down on Caldwell as others...I think hes an average coach. I definitely think there are upgrades out there, but there arent any 'sure things' in my eyes.

I'll be happy if they get rid of him, just for the sole purpose of it being an organizational clean sweep, but I wont cruicfy the man if he decides to keep Caldwell either.

Im just happy the Lions went outside of the organization for the GM hire...that was a big step in the right direction IMO. I will give Quinn the benefit of the doubt until Im proven otherwise.

Why is that?

NFL on XM were saying yesterday that they worked together and are close. He was Gase's assistant in Denver 2013. They also mentioned Jim Bob is not under contract currently.

Oh, he's not under contract? I didn't know that.

If Cooter joins Gase in Miami, I suppose that could be the right avenue for a Stafford trade.

Cooter leaves, Caldwell will be a goner. Caldwell goes, Johnson retires. If you lose Calvin, you might as well accept a rebuild.

Miami is pretty freewheeling when it comes to draft picks, and they are already down on Tannehill. Cooter would love to have Stafford in Miami, so it could open up to them paying the price it would take to land him.

Help me out on this one since I didn't follow the coaching tree. Is Cooter a former Case co-worker or something? Why would he leave here to go to Miami?

I personally think we should keep Caldwell, as long as they keep the same coordinators, for next season. We have virtually all of the core players signed through next season and majority of them have asked for the same coaching staff back. We had the the 3rd toughest schedule in the league last season. We can reasonably get to the playoffs with our upcoming schedule in the 2016 season with the same offense and defense installed. It also gives us the best shot to keep Megatron for one more season. If the Browns don't hire Matt Patricia this off-season, he should be our target next off-season for HC. Great article by the Boston Herald on him. Seems like a good balance of knowledge, analytical savvy, and personable skills for a HC candidate.

Here's the article for those who haven't read it:

New Miami gm following the path of the great martin mayhew. Over pay for Suh and stafford and cripple your team. That would be hysterical. Suh and tannehill already take up 25% of the teams cap. Why not raise that a bit!
