In various recent statements Faucci has made about the virus originating in the lab, his confidence that it didn?t has been wavering.

The degree of intention with it being released is where I waver. I think they wanted to make an even more contagious and deadly variety but this version escaped before they were able to create that alternative.

Two things being conflated.

The idea that it was man made has been dismissed as conspiracy theory. By who initially, I don't know, but you'd think by now, researchers that have tracked the several dozen variants would have something to say about it if there were genetic indicators.

The idea that it's natural, but leaked from a lab in Wuhan was dismissed by the WHO, who everybody says is in China's pocket and can't be trusted to make such calls. And now we know China did things you'd expect if they were covering it up and several people there got sick at a time that would support the lab leak theory.

Besides, James Bond was successful in infiltrating Russian territories because he was a white male spying in places where white males were prolific. If he attempted to go into China he would need a disguise, so a more appropriate Fictional character would have been from Mission: Impossible where they have those cool thin skin face and voice changing pieces of tech. Tom Cruise as Ethan Hunt would even be an appropriate height and build so as to not stand out too much. Most Bond actors would be about the correct build, but a bit too tall on average.

That BTW is NOT being racist but simply using scientific averages for which a preferable spy could blend into their targeted environment easier.

Exactly...I do believe the science that it was not a genetically lab created virus; however, evidence is mounting that they had acquired the bat virus version when 3 workers became sick and died. This virus by its very nature would have mutated multiple times, and if the Chinese in charge were testing on different animals to determine which strains were more contagious and deadly, stearing it toward weaponization, then it jumps to a human who had a momentary lapse in wearing PPE, perhaps not recognizing it could enter through the eyes and was not wearing protective Eyewear for example, with this version being able to hide for a few days and spread before symptoms appear, well that is a recipe for what happened that is a legit analysis of the data collected to date. It is unlikely we will ever learn the absolute truth, but I think in terms of what China views as it being an accident is they would have preferred a more contagious and lethal form but this one accidentally escaped before they were ready. They likely would have preferred bringing it secretly into the US and releasing it here instead.

Of course, a further step in conspiracy might be that a foreign entity, perhaps the US, planted this in Wuhan; however, it has been linked to that cave with the bats in China, so that would seem a bit too much of a conspiracy leap based on what is known.

True, but I do not believe those masks were able to change the apparent height and general build. One would likely need to be within 10% of person being impersonated to not raise suspicions.
