Coronainsanity

So what you're saying is the government has no right to say what a person can or can't do with their own bodies?

No. Cinder block, meet apple. A developing, viable fetus in the womb is not a part of the mother?s body. It has separate, bespoke DNA, tissue, organs, usw.

But the government has no legal right to force anyone to accept this experimental concoction that used cells originally isolated from fetal tissue. Or to penalize anyone who refuses.

This is a rather capricious and reckless statement. If government can exact compliance for vaccines, it can do as much for other matters that will affect you at some point. This is why it?s a larger issue than vaccines, masks, et.al.

I know you're not the worst of the bunch on this point, but I look at all the things people on the Right have supported (if not cheered) since 2000 -ostensibly to fight the "War or Terror" or "Get tough on crime" - and have a hard time seeing a mask or even a vaccine mandate as anywhere near as threatening to personal liberty as those things.

I remember being shocked by the revelations that the Bush Administration forced telecoms to go along with warrantless surveillance of our electronic communications in 2004/2005, and the response from self-identified Republicans I got was the typical "if you're not doing anything wrong, you don't have anything to worry about" bullshit.

So if you're okay with the government reading all your emails, texts, phone calls, and your browsing history, how is getting a poke in the arm -scheduled at your convenience, and FREE - any more threatening to your liberty? GET REAL.

I think it comes down to two factors:

one: it's different when "our side" does it.

And two less partisan, but still stupid: some threats, as dangerous as they are, - such as intrusive law enforcement abusing their power, or having to actually fight in a war - are just not realistic or conceivable to middle class or wealthy Americans... but having to wear a mask or get an "ouchy" in the arm are.

babies.

Credit me, please, for catching up. Because everything you stated is now abhorrent to me, and has been for years.

As for the threat to my liberty of accepting a vaccine that I can?t validate as neither safe nor effective, that?s my answer.

Well... I did credit you by saying you're not the worst of the bunch! (edit: and I know one of your sons served in Iraq and/or Afghanistan, so you did bear a personal cost to Bush's wars, unlike many who cheered them on)

as far as whether it's safe or effective...

I assume enough people have taken it now without keeling over and dying that it's "safe." Unless you believe some of the real wacky stuff posted on youtube.

I think it's "effective, but not 100% effective."

as with many things in life, there doesn't appear to be a silver bullet to beat COVID-19. We'd need a lot of different initiatives, some of which are probably too late to do, and so going forward, the challenge is to mitigate risk, as this circles the population over and over again, inflicting death on many, and long term damage on more.

according to Gulo, the COVID vaccine is at least more effective than the flu vaccine, which declines in effectiveness a lot more rapidly. so there's that

I kinda wonder if we'd get better vaccines if the "profit motive" wasn't there for booster shots.

Apparently the Cubans have started vaccinating even kids as young as two years old and developed multiple vaccines domestically. (link)

How about that?

You know...the more I think I know the less certain I am of stuff. I believe the vaccine is the more safe choice for anyone that can't 100% isolate, BUT!

I'm not sure how safe this vaccine is long term. It triggers an immune reaction. A really tough one in some people. It's hard on the heart. That was true of vaccines in the past too. The smallpox vaccine did kill a very small percentage of people. The more crude inoculation George Washington required of his troops might have killed a lot of people. (Googling, I got this link suggesting 5-10%! https://www.history.com/news/smallpox-george-washington-revolutionary-war)

Is there a long term effect with this one, or a cumulative one if you take many of them? I don't know. I think the immune response to actually getting covid is worse, but I don't think we want to be getting boosters every 8 months forever either. Every 8 month for a while for most of us is probably fine; to buy time until a better vaccine can be created. But we want to make a good effort to take enough, but not more than enough until we have answers to these questions.

Fraudchi at it again, fruadchi is nothing but a fear mongering POS, he helped create the damn thing

Dr. Anthony Fauci warned that Americans will soon face a ?dark winter? unless the vast majority of them take the COVID injection.

?You know, if we don?t get people vaccinated who need to be vaccinated, and we get that conflating with an influenza season, we could have a dark, bad winter,? Fauci said during a Thursday interview on ?The Takeout? podcast with Major Garrett.

We could also avoid a dark, bad winter if we get people vaccinated to a very high degree over the next several weeks to a month or two,? he added.

Remember, Joe Biden said America was heading for a ?dark winter? almost a year ago when nobody in the U.S. was vaccinated.

But according to Fauci, we?re still heading for a ?dark winter? despite the fact 183 million Americans received the COVID injection.

COVID cases are exponentially higher now compared to this time last year, when not nearly as many Americans received the jab, suggesting the injection is not effective at preventing COVID infection.
