Coronainsanity

So the brain trusts at LAUSD are finally acknowledging (they probably already knew) what people who have been paying attention to the science have been saying all along- 99% of the masks they?ve been making us wear are worthless pieces of shit.

So now they?re requiring a minimum level surgical mask, but they?re also requiring a nose wire, which most surgical masks don?t have. I suppose kids could use a paper clip, or maybe a clothespin, but those are normally wood or plastic, and the district hasn?t indicated whether the non-metal material would qualify.

Seems N 95 mask are what they want, but here?s the thing - those are not easy for adult trained medical professionals to wear effectively; most of the time I see just adults in general walking around wearing them they?re not on properly to be effective, which makes them - wait for it ? also worthless pieces of shit.

There is about zero chance that any kids in elementary school will wear them effectively; maybe one percent of middle school kids will have the discipline and maybe 2 to 3% of high school kids will be able to.

Throw that up against the cognition and learning loss that research is finding masks are leading to, and that right there is one thing that sure puts the ?insanity? in Coronainsanity.

You guys arguing that omicron was going to be mild, with lower hospitalization and death rates were right. Maybe you weren't even arguing, you KNEW these things because they were facts, clear as the sky is blue. Anyways, I'm convinced.

Look at this great news (link):
Statistics show that an average of over 2,000 people are dying from the virus in the US every day, roughly on par with the deaths seen in late September.

A large portion of the dead are older than 65 years old or unvaccinated.

According to statistics from Johns Hopkins University, the daily average of confirmed Covid-19 deaths surpassed 2,000 on 21 January and stood at 2,033 on 23 January. That's just short of where it was at the peak of the surge in Delta variant cases in September.

But there are many more people in hospital now due to the virus than there were back then, due to much higher case loads.

Dr Abraar Karan, an infectious disease doctor at Stanford University, told the BBC that the high death toll is largely a factor of the high hospitalisation rate, even if the symptoms of the Omicron variant are generally less severe than those of Delta. "When you have a more transmissible virus, it would exponentialise the number of severe cases and deaths. Even if you have a low percentage of severe cases, the absolute number can still be quite high. A small percentage of a very large number is still a large number."
So mild! And it will probably just go away now, because it was mild, and will only mutate to become even more mild. This is a Fact. Carve it in stone. We can all go back to normal. No further discussion needed. Mods, lock this thread.

anyone with half a brain (or can understand 3rd grade math) knew this was where this variant's trend was going to go. Fully expect it to stay like this thru early feb....then hopefully tail off now that were seeing cases slowly decline.

If they were over 65, Medicare may have already paid for them well into their old age -

Also, don't forget about long COVID, that could offset the benefits of all those dead people being taken off the health insurance industry books...

Well, if they die of Covid well into their old age all that Medicare money was already spent anyway. I thinking about savings going forward.

I?m going to be optimistic that long Covid won?t cut into the new savings to much from people who just die of Covid quickly. Long Covid is pretty rare; the big lib media has been making out to be more of a thing than it really is.

that's not what the science geniuses on DSF say - if you don't get vaccinated, you're definitely going to get very sick and most likely die adn if you don't die then you're absolutely going to deal with the extremely harsh affects of long COVID, which studies indicate include symptoms like a cough up to 6 months after recovering. Long COVID, it's nasty business.

It seems that every variant has been similar in other countries. I expect this one to rapidly decline like it has done in other countries.

Good thing for me you and Mud fortunately recovered and have that good natural immunity. I?m not a billionaire, but I am in Romney?s 53%that are productive and I shouldn?t have to worry about paying the freight for your and Mud?s long term Covid care.

it's funny...every time I cough, my wife says "COVID!"

Maybe I had COVID and didn't know, and now I have long COVID

Hey, turns out this is a great link, thanks for posting it.

I don?t know how I did it, but touched something that connected me to some really interesting shit from the Freep about Matthew Stafford and his hot wife, and the current NFL season and Lions fans.

I can?t figure out what I did to get there. I guess I can do a search engine search.

Over a million Canadians, including a massive convoy of truckers, are on their way to the Canadian Parliament in Ottawa to demand the resignation of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau over his COVID tyranny, according to reports and video.

i dont think its tails off as quickly as those other countries. We have a much larger population and several markets havent seen the outbreak hit them as hard yet. I think we tail off slower than those smaller countries.

Are you the only normal person left in LA?

I walk around now with absolutely zero fear of catching COVID it's a nice to have. I do worry about my Dad eventually catching it though and try to be super careful when visiting. He's not vaccinated either, and in a high risk category with COPD. He's an old Nam Vet though can't tell him nothing. Frankly quite surprised he never got it thus far he's out and about daily playing lottery games. Maybe it doesn't like him either like my youngest daughter whom has been exposed to it dozens of times and never gets it.

So now on this thread weve heard we have zero confidence that people can put a mask on....which id argue is one of the easiest fucking things to do on the planet earth.

But in the same thread argue that self medicating on ivermectin and monoclonal antibodes....thats a breeze and people should do it instead of taking a jab.

Yaaaa....people on this thread are TOTALLY normal.

PS...just wanted to point out that alot of the "alternative" treatments no longer work either since we get to see all about how vaccines dont work on this thread.

As COVID-19 continues to surge in places across the county, the Food and Drug Administration is curbing the use of two out of three monoclonal antibody treatments available in the U.S. because data shows they aren't effective against the omicron variant, the agency announced Monday.

The two drugs, made by Regeneron and by Eli Lilly, worked well earlier in the pandemic with non-omicron variants, NPR's Pien Huang told Morning Edition. But data shows they aren't effective against omicron, which accounts for an estimated 99% of U.S. COVID-19 cases.

The drugs are bamlanivimab and etesevimab (which are administered together) and REGEN-COV (casirivimab and imdevimab); the FDA has limited their use to patients infected with a variant that is susceptible to these treatments.

"Honestly, I'm shocked that it took them this long to do it because things are bad enough without wasting valuable health care provider time infusing a medicine that is not going to be effective," Erin Fox, a pharmacy director at University of Utah Health, told NPR.

Like we?ve talked about, some people are going to be naturally resistant just like with every contagion ever.

Some people call natural resistance in the category of natural immunity, along with people who have recovered, others separate the two.

I?m pretty sure a person can?t self medicate with ivermectin nor monoclonal antibodies. I?m pretty sure both need the prescription of an MD.

Sure, anybody can put on a mask, just like anybody can do a ritualistic tribal dance.

Neither is an effective deterrent to Covid.
