Me: Coronavirus aint going to touch me!

Also Me: I got my stuffed crust Digiorno, Chili Cheese Sour cream Chip dip, Coke 2L and Whiteclaws ready for the Super bowl!!!

You should really ask the government to tell you what to do, what to eat and what drugs to take. Some people are clearly too stupid to have freedom and it?s clearly going to kill them.

You do realize that if all these truckers lose their job, the supply chain will be impacted for quite some time. Getting trained to drive those trucks takes time, and varies depending on type of trailer and what they are hauling. It would take many months to replace these guys who have shown the impact they can have in merely a week. Your proposal is typical for a Liberal's, never thinking through the next steps and long term consequences. Just do X... oh shit, didn't realize that would cause Y, oops, and Z. (Exhibit A: Defund Police).

Firing all of these Truckers at the same time would result in severe supply chain disruption. I'm certain they would laugh at that. They'll find other work and supply chains crawl. Ford, GM, Toyota won't have cars for 2022, possibly even early 2023. And that's just a portion of the auto industry.

The government is in an impossible position to win and the Truckers know that because, unlike you, they KNOW their value.

We can't even get people to work simple jobs these days, yet you think they will jump at the chance to fill all these Trucker jobs! That's freaking hysterical.

And now reports are farmers are joining in and blocking some roads. I suppose you think the government should fire them somehow too. No one needs what they supply, just fire them! Oops, people are starving now... didn't see that coming either cuz we're Liberals who cannot think about consequences short or long term, just fire people who don't comply!!! Authority WINS!!!

You're a fucking genius I tell ya! Your ID should have the name 10 T on it, cuz you scored a perfect 10 and deserve a celebratory cup of tea for your brilliance!

Exhibit B - post COVID American economy, education, childhood development, healthcare, mental health, etc, etc, etc.

But they?re breaking the law! Id like to see these people whining about ?illegal? protests go back in time to Alabama and join their Democrat friends to explain to all those people desegregating the south that they were breaking the law sitting in the white section.

Before anyone says I?m conflating vax mandates with segregation, the point is protests and civil disobedience that hits people in their wallets works - it did way more to desegregate the south than any riots or laws for that matter. Truckers parking illegally isnt nearly as bold as the laws civil rights activists ignored but it?s having the same effect. It?s going to hit people where it matters and people see how these bureaucrats are responding. My money is on the truckers - this isn?t going to go well for these authoritarian bureaucrats. Trudeau problem is he has no real world experience. He?s like JFK - a good looking moron with a powerful daddy - maybe the worst case of ?born on third base but thinks he hit a triple.?

I think what you quoted our friend Hughes from his post #5737 was something he thought was funny - he did follow it with one of these :D - but I didn?t get it.

Statement from the Canadian Teamsters union condemning the protests.

So FWIW the biggest labor union representing all truckers is saying this protest by a minority of them is bullshit.

If you can?t trust the leadership of the teamsters, who can you trust? That Union must be HUGE if a tiny minority is able to shut down a city, the busiest border crossing in North America and slow down if not cripple an entire countries economy. It?s cute that you think leadership of one of the most corrupt union actually represents or cares about the rank and file and they?re not just a bunch of grifters carrying water for their politician buddies who help enable their grift.

To me, he thinks everyone who is against the vax for health reason is a fat slob that?s killing themselves slowly with other poor choices like an unhealthy diet. Therefore mandates from people who know better what?s best for them are better than their freedom to choose such things for themselves.

Meh.

I don?t think he bothers thinking shit through to even that degree.

I don?t think he takes the crap he posts seriously.

I think he mostly posts crazy shit because he thinks he?s funny and he thinks he?s getting a rise out of people.

I?m remembering he was like that during the mostly peaceful riots.

Or... you both take shit way out of context and that's literally a list of shit I have at my house ready to eat for the super bowl.

it's a bridge. a choke point. by definition it's easy to shut down. pull a single truck sideways and it's blocked off. especially if the authorities just decide to sit on their hands.

there's clearly some other angle going on here, beyond vaccine resistence, although that's the nominal reason.

Before I even clicked on that I thought I?ll bet that?s a self driving trucks link. LOL . I can stil recall hearing a professor talking about this 5 years ago as if it was right around the corner. It will take years yet for long haul replacement! Years if not another decade or more

I agree on the timeline. But I wouldn't start a career, that doesn't pay like it used to, with the possibility of it getting automated in a decade. The significance of that link is that it's not some researcher talking about where their research may lead someday. It's 4 stocks you can invest in. That's a higher level of maturity and (at least to me) far more convincing that there's a reasonable chance that the ten-year timeline isn't too far off.

Whether the timeline is right or wrong, it should scare off some new truck drivers from training.

Perhaps that?s one of the reasons we have such a huge trucker shortage too many professors scaring them away from a dead end career path even though we aren?t there yet and won?t be for a decade or more. Good luck getting through the supply chain shortages that are likely going to get a whole lots worse now

What will probably happen with a trucker protests now is they start getting forcefully dispersed. Afterwards CN will scale back mandates but say it was their plan all along and talk about unnecessary the protest were then proceed to make all those that participated lives a living hell in the weeks and months down the road now that they have all been out their long enough for authoritarian authorities to gather up all of their names and addresses. Because that?s what tyrants do

Only two dozen protesters left. Police have started moving them.
