Correspondents Dinner

This year it was on CNN. I don't know about last year.

It used to be on CSPAN which everyone with cable has, but almost nobody knows what channel it is on their lineup.

So amidst calls to cancel the White House correspondent's dinner going forward, the event will be replaced by an annual beauty pageant where Trump
and his son's Donald Jr. and Erik judge women who've had boob jobs. There will be a wet t-shirt contest, a Conservative values speech competition (while still wearing the wet t-shirt), and a bikini contest.

The winner will replace Huckabee-Sanders as White House press secretary next year.

it will be on the Spice Channel.

When asked for comment, The Reverend Jerry Falwell Jr. said he's fully supportive of the event, because admiring fake breasts is a healthy activity for heterosexual Christian males to partake in, and will offset the gay community's annual recruitment drive.

Fucking Xfinity/Comcast dropped the BTN in Colorado, officially now.

so stupid.

I watched the whole thing and found it vile, crude, totally inappropriate and almost completely not funny - she got some laughs but a lot more dead silence. I suppose the people who think Amy Schumer is funny might have found this entertaining.

Honest question, did you have the same reaction when Trump called various women "fat pig", "bimbo", "a dog", "ugly", or that they were "bleeding badly from a face lift"? Or do we hold female comedians to a higher standard when it comes to insulting another woman's looks?

That's my only real take from this is how hypocritical the people are who are mad at this random comedian but dismiss Trump's word vomit as 'locker room talk'.

This is what I hate. This country is now so political that personal insults are okay depending on the side you support instead of reality. Trump's insults are not okay. Wolf's insults (sorry, but this is not a roast) crossed a line. If Trump said these things about a CNN female anchor, we would all condemn him. I don't give a shit whether the other side doesn't hold people to the same standard, we should be better and not use that as an excuse.

It was a legitimate question, I'm not trying to justify Wolf or drag down Trump. I'm pretty sure Mack will see my intent is not to justify it but rather compare the two. And I'm also pretty sure I know his answer already, but I asked the question anyways.

You must not have seen enough of my posts here to realize that I don't lean far enough one way or another to do such a petty thing as to say Wolf was ok, Trump was not.

Sorry, the point of my post was directed at what you said as i realized you weren't voicing them as your own feelings. My bad for not making it clear.

Unfortunately, I don't think any women have ever posted in the politics section here, and probably for good reason.

Pfft...Women can hold their own on the political commentary threads and below tweets which I have read. There is only one word that will really pee them off, and it rhymes with punt.

I had a similar reaction to most of it - the stuff he said to Rosie O'Donnell when they were insulting each other on twitter was inappropriate but easy to brush off as an irrelevant back-and-forth between two vile, childish, petty spoiled celebrities. But that kind of behavior definitely was one of several reasons I didn't support him as a candidate.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not mad about it. I find it disappointing that people think the things she said ("abortion - don't knock it til you try it", calling Sanders "an Uncle Tom for white women" etc) and the language she used to be appropriate or funny in any situation, let alone that forum.

Edit: honest question, you don't actually think Amy Schumer is funny, do you?

Same here in CA. I'm pissed!

My wife (MyWife!! ...Tinsel should get that) who didn't even go to MICHIGAN lit up some poor customer service rep over it. So stupid - if we lived a few hours to the east in shitty Nebraska, we'd still have it. If we moved to Silver Springs, Maryland we would too.

But no BTN in places like California or Colorado.

I'm sure this is because of cord cutting. pay TV services are feeling the pinch as people are getting fed up with paying for things they don't use. It's getting harder and harder for cable companies to justify paying the fees for certain networks - they have to pay ESPN something like $8/month per subscriber. I think the BTN was $1 per subscriber if their was a B1G university within a certain distance and $.15 outside that range.

We cut the cord and don't miss it at all - get BTN from YouTube TV which we can turn on and off monthly (no contract) - switch it on for football season and shut it off after basketball season is over. the only downside is the DVR - we went without this season because currently you can't get a device that does both over the air and streamed TV but it shouldn't be long before a good cloud based solution is available.

We cut the cord in 2008 I believe. It was rough at first but as time has went on there are more and more streaming and other internet solutions available. This is going to do nothing but piss people off more. Nobody that is or was dropping cable is now not going to, at least not a significant amount.

on reddit there's an article about how comcast is going to suspend speed increases to accounts that don't also subscribe to cable, to target cord cutters.

I suppose if you're just using it for web surfing, speed isn't much of an issue, but streaming TV and movies would be a problem eventually.

50 mbps should be sufficient to stream...unless the household is using multiple WiFi devices @ the same time.

Not a problem if you know how to hack and crack WPA2 TKIP PSK encryption.

You might be surprised @ how many internet subscribers' wireless routers' default 8 digit numeric keycodes aren't changed into secure passwords out of laziness or luddite. With one of our local IPs the default SSID is half of the code...lol.
