Cowboys fire DC Rob Ryan

JJ is waiting on Bill Cowher

I used to want Cowher..but after so long I start to wonder if the game has passed him by. The style has changed drastically since he last coached and it's been awhile since he's been a part of a team..not sure I'd be excited if he came to Dallas. The excitment would be letting Garrett go.

With that massive paunch that Rob Ryan has had bulging out over his belt, he looks like a triple bypass candidate @ age 50, long mane of wolfie gray hair or not. Being...well...used to be in the NFL as a team's DC, one would think that he might want to shed some of that blubber and look a bit more physically fit for any potential interviews as a possible coaching hire for another NFL franchise's staff.

Maybe Rob really meant 5 football game minutes, so he probably figures that he still has the officials' 2 minute warning waiting in his back pocket.

Or maybe he is going to college and is accountimg for all the stoppages when his D gives up a first down.

He agreed to a deal with the Rams to be their DC. They will be going from the 4-3 to a 3-4.

surprising move. mainly due to the scheme change. their 4-3 was really comming along with some of the guys on their dline. They have 2 high round 4-3 DEs on their team with chris long and robert quinn. Both had 10+ sacks this year too. I dont think you can make both of them OLBs in that defense.... doesnt make much sense

I thought the same thing. But not much the Rams have done ever makes sense.

He might stay but why would he have say on the new GM? Who the fk is he? The Jags did it, fired GM 10 days later hired new GM and HC got fired right after.

Don't ask me why about that clusterfuck organization of the Jets. I just heard it a couple of days ago on the NFL Network. Rex has more power now that the old GM was canned. The old man loves him...lol. He's going nowhere bro!!!

thought his hire was a dumb idea with all the 4-3 talent they have. Atleast 1 franchise listens to me :D
loooongest 5 minutes ever!

the St. Louis Rams will not hire Rob Ryan as defensive coordinator after a second visit with the coaching staff Monday determined that his addition was not a good "scheme fit," according to coach Jeff Fisher.

Fisher noted that the team did not make an official announcement on the hiring of Ryan, but his team will publicly confirm that Ryan will not join the staff.

Last week, a source had told ESPN that Ryan would be hired as the Rams' defensive coordinator.

The boisterous Ryan was fired as defensive coordinator of the Dallas Cowboys on Jan. 8, soon after owner Jerry Jones said he would make major changes to a team that finished 8-8 and missed the playoffs.

After his ouster in Dallas, Ryan said, "I'll be out of work for like five minutes."

Last season, the Rams' defense was coached by a host of assistants after defensive coordinator Gregg Williams was suspended by the NFL for his role in the New Orleans Saints' bounty scandal. The team announced earlier this month that Williams, who has yet to be reinstated by the NFL, won't be with the team next season.
