Craptastic Bowl schedule today

I have Northwestern vs. TAMU on now, which is probably the only game I even kinda want to watch...

might tune into the UI-UCLA "Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl" to see if either team even bothers to show up.

i've been watching them all, was doing a family thing earlier and that helps fill the lulls

plus being a part of bowl pools helps. the games were fairly exciting, but I got 3 out of 4, so that might have something to do with it.

NW is lucky to be down just 13. I do like coach Fitzgerald though. Easy to see why Brandon wanted to talk to him over the U of M job although it worked out for the best.

I will watch part of the Kraft game later only because I am home and its on but dear god could be 2 teams playing in a bowl that are more a mess than Ill and UCLA. Illinois's coach's have threatened not to show for the game and UCLA had to get an NCAA waiver just to play in the game.

I think Fitzgerald is an idiot. I think they could've won that game but for some stupid coaching decisions...oh well

B1G is not looking very good, so far. Purdue with a close one against WESTERN, Iowa going down to Oklahoma and now N'western getting smoked by A&M. Not good. Lots of games left but probably another blah bowl season on the horizon for our conference.

To be honest, the only B1G bowl wins I see left are UM, OSU and maybe Illinois. PSU wont keep up with Houston, Wisky doesn't have the D to slow down Oregon, MSU doesn't win bowl games, Nebraska will struggle against the SC defense.

I hope im wrong and the conference does good, but I just don't have a good feeling. Im getting tired of listening to the fucking media bash our conference because of bowl games. It seems the only thing that matters is if you get the win. They dont take into consideration that a game like Iowa vs Oklahoma shouldn't even happen. Pitting a 7 th place conference team against a 4th place team isnt very fair, IMO.

Nope, the bowl alignments are not good for the B1G even when we don't get 2 bcs teams to screw up the alignment even more. They should just limit the BCS to conference champions and the B1G bowl record would improve dramatically. It would, also, clear up a lot of controversy in how they pick those games.

Monster [/color]]PSU should destroy Houston. Their offense might be terrible, but their running game should have their way with Houston and their defense will hold Houston under 20.

PSU 35 Houston 14

yah Houston hasn't faced a D like PSU's all year. Wouldn't be surprised to see Houston get shut down, especially witht them being down about not making the bcs.

Houston sucks.

They'd be a 6-6 or 7-5 team in the Big Ten.

I guess we will just have to wait and see what happens. I think Houston wins, possibly by 2 or more TD's. PSU is in a Downward spiral and they play a team they SHOULD beat who has an excellent ofense.

I don't know why you would say that the team is in a downward spiral. The program certainly is, but I saw the players trying to win during those last few games counting shutting down that team from Ohio* with all of their players.

Houston will be playing without their coach, who will be coaching for Tx A&M next season. PSU also lost their coach, but I think PSU is going to be playing with a chip on their shoulder. Houston will just be demoralized after the embarrasing loss in their conference championship game on top of losing their coach.

My predictions:
Msu: L - by 10 or more
UM: W - will blitz all over and beat an over rated vt team by 10 or more
Ohio: W - they are much better now than they were earlier in the season when they accrued their record with players out and an inexperienced qb
Psu: W - Houston's most notable opponent imo was ucla which they barely beat. Psu should handle them easily even with their offensive woes and off field issues.
Wisc: L - will be the most embarassing B1G loss of this bowl season unfortunately
Neb: ? - toss up. Depends on which neb team shows up. 51% confidant sc wins.

This would put the final B1G record at 6-4 or 5-5. I'll take it in what has been considered a down B1G year.

Who cares about conference bowl records?
SEC fans. Pollsters who make next year's pre-season top 25.

They looked like they gave up to me when the played Wisky the last game of the season. With the Sandusky-Paterno thing, uncertainity of who will be the next coach, players fighting in locker room, I would say things are going down, right now. Of course they will be back because they are PSU

It's the same crap every year, no matter what happens. When the SEC doesn't dominate (which happens), it's because the conference is just too tough and the team is too beat up. When the SEC wins, no matter the final score or HOW it happened, it's because the SEC is superior.

I bet ESPN is dying to buy/bully the SEC broadcast rights from CBS.

I completely agree.

Ahhem, Houston 24 -7 at half.

PSU still has a chance but I think Houston has shown they are no scrubb and PSU has a lot of bad shit going on.

I dont think PSU was really that good. They played the easier sched not having to play us or sparty. The only win they had that you can view as a surprise was @OSU.

Like I said, I had no idea that Bolden was going to play that whole game instead of McGloin. Yes, I do think he is that much better and if PSU had been able to hold onto the ball longer on O, that would've prevented the Houston O from being on the field.

Oh well.

You wouldn't have known it yesterday, but PSU had some very good defensive games this season.

as much as people called paterno a figurehead, he was still the glue that kept that team together.

they needed some decent interim leadership to make it to the end of the season, but they didn't get that. when you have your players beating eachother senseless in the locker room, and no comment from the coaching staff, it's clear nobody is in charge.

penn state wasn't the same team for their bowl game that they were all season.

I don't think it would have mattered. The distance between those QB's is minimal. Heck, they have been battling for the starting gig for two years. If he was that much better there would have been no questions over who starts from the beginning. Like I said, PSU had to much shit going on right now and they ran into a team that was pissed losing to Southern Miss in the conference champ game costing them BCS bowl. They had something to prove.
