Cya later Slay....was nice while it lasted!

No one switches to Drew Rosenhaus to get a deal done. They sign with him to get the most money possible. Like Tom says, who would blame him. A few things have to transpire for him to be signed away, first put together another quality year like this one. Second, our new guy may fully agree to pay him what he wants. There is no doubt the guy is going to want Josh Norman money, who is about to set the ceiling in the next few months.

He should be off limits for switching agents and wanting to get the most money , they make enough as it is ....end sarcasm lol ....the dude has come a long way and is the best CB we have had in a while . Is he a Charles Woodson , no hes not but few are . Id say our biggest weakness on defense is our backline so pay the guy before we lose him . He wants to be here , you can see he takes pride in his position so lock him the eff up and lets go . Hes not gonna break the bank anyway

Yeah everyone knows there is no market for shutdown cornerbacks.

Personally, I don't take anyone's word for "He want's to be here." That usually means "If you pay me a ton of money I want to be here."

Players and agents know this. The reason why he'll ask for mucho signing bonus.

I think it means something to an extent . I mean everytime these guys switch teams they have to uproot their families . I would guess guys wanna have some stability in that sense . But of course money talks

lol. Well, moron, you're telling us he's history by making the thread with your title. Shitting on a Lions player like you always do. And not one report that I read said that he was bolting to the "highest bidder". That's you being a fkn clown as usual, making up bs...nothing new there, right? lol. Every report that I read on The Score, Bleacher Report, NFLN said that he wants to stay a Lion and he switched agents to get a deal done here.

Dude, youre a baseball fan. You know EXACTLY what it means when you sign with Rosenhaus. Youre just arguing to be a douche lol. Absolutely we should pay him the money. But if we don't....Rosenhaus will get it from somewhere else. Slay is nothing more than a Jonathon Joseph that signed at about 7 mil per year. Rosenhaus will probably get him 10+. Slay and Ansah will be 2 of Quinns first big decisions.

If he proves it another year, I have no issue paying him. Good news is we can franchise him while trying to work out a fair deal.

I understand that! Lol. Rosenhaus gets you the bread.....i dont blame him. He deserves a big contract and i hope he stays a Lion. I honestly dont want to fight with you but you just automatically assume he's gone because he hired the golden jew lol. I dont think thats the case. But they definitely need to sign guys like Slay and Ansah. Those guys are building blocks to a winning organization.

I dont mind the wait and see approach either. We have seen Slay improve every year so far. He reached elite status last year with his play. Dude is gonna make bank.

Suh is a clown though. Maybe Slay has some loyalty?

While Slay seems loyal, 3+ extra million a year for 6 years is hard to turn down. I don't see him giving a home town discount if that's what you are implying.

I think he goes to the highest bidder. If the deals are very close, few 100k a year I could see him picking Detroit, but other then that, I see the agent switch as being about the most money as a FA.

Im not thinking home town discount. The kid deserves the money, he's been great at CB for the Lions. Lions need to keep this kid. Elite CBs dont grow on trees.

Should be a good test for Quinn. Personally, I think they should invest as much as they can in the defense, that's where the young stars on this team are right now...Ansah, Slay, Levy (if he comes back the same), definitely worth building around (not to mention a quality DC too).

The future of the offense is not looking as great. CJ won't be around much longer, I don't think Stafford will either. The o-line has some highly drafted young talent, but still remains a question mark. Riddick is a bright spot, but the rest of the young skill guys haven't been very impressive. With all that in mind, letting defensive talent go leaves this team closer to rebuilding mode.

Invest in Slay and Ansah, let the defense carry them while building up the offense. They should probably get some help on the d-line too.

the problem is 2 guys on defense can't carry a team. I do agree you try to keep them both but not if it doesn't make financial sense.

Who else is going to command a big contract soon? Unless they're eyeing somebody in free agency, I think they can afford to spend a little, especially if CJ's contract is out of the picture in the near future.

those are the right 2 positions to spend money on as well imo. Im not sure if slay is a shut down corner or we just had a rotating pile of crap opposite him. He did have a high PD number if I remember right. He probably deserves around 10 mil. If Rosenhaus starts the bidding at 16 mil per we should be worried. Hes simply not THAT type of player.

16MIL is a lot of money....agreed. He shut that one half of the field down for most of the year tho, bro. I can see 12-13 for sure.

IMO, if we were to resign him it would have to be done before the season. If he goes into free agency, he's gone.
