Dallas blm protest incident

"black people commit more crime"

well, whether that's true or not, I am not sure. maybe more poverty-related crime (e.g. dealing drugs on the street & holding up liquor stores). not as much property crime though. massive mortgage fraud, or embezzling funds from your charity, illegal tax shelters, ponzi schemes like Amway...

but regardless, the issue causing the current protests isn't who commits the most crime or who is justifiably shot by cops... it's police committing unjustified shootings and never bearing any consequences for their actions, protected by their fellow police and the local state's attorney (i.e. the state itself).

I think everyone is talking about violent crime

This is not accurate. Police officers charged with murder and manslaughter are convicted 70% of the time.

As Tom stated, we are talking about violent crime but since you bring it up, where is your data to support this? Evidence suggests this may just be BS conjecture on your part...

Weren't you the one who posted the link about pastors and their outrageous net worths from scamming their followers - go back and take a look, 17 of the top 50 (16 excluding George Foreman) or 32% are black- of those worth more than $5mm, 38% are black. They may not technically be breaking the law but as we all know, you think these people are criminals and among the worst human beings in the world...

I thought I read somewhere that they're almost never charged, even in conditions where others probably would be. I think it was anecdote, not statistic though.

edit: It jumped from 5 to 15 in 2015.

Sounds familiar, but I also read in the Washington Post last year after they began tracking all police related shootings that the overwhelming majority of cases were justified.

I posted it and it makes, and it makes no difference the race of the person if you commit a crime you should be prosecuted and put in jail. That also includes any bad police officers of all colors. Surly you agree with that ? Anyone who uses religion to profit is a crook and I could take them or leave them both white or black or any color.

I've already acknowledged that their are some bad cops who should be held accountable for their actions just like everyone else - everyone else not named Clinton, anyway. You seem to be missing the point of my post, which was requesting evidence to support the claim that blacks don't commit as much property or non-violent crime or more accurately, that they don't commit them at rates consistent with their representation in the population.

I am not at all missing the point and if blacks who commit those crimes are caught should be punished just like any police officer that kills anyone an unjustified manner.

well, if you didn't miss the point of my post then I don't really see the point of yours unless it was to clarify who posted the referenced link.

But they do commit them at rates consistent with their representation within the poor population.

violent crimes, yes but that comment was referring to MC's post where he stated blacks don't commit as much property crime. I don't know if property crime rates by ethnicity are consistent with population demographics or if like with violent crimes, property crimes have a wealth component to them. I was just asking for evidence to support the assertion that black people don't commit property crime at levels proportionate to their representation in the population. .

From that Town Hall meeting last night.

Milwaukee Police Chief: "I’m basically going to ask you to figure out a way to cross parallel conversations. And I think it’s going to transcend the duration of your presidency, which imposes a special burden on you because of your unique place in history.

The parallel conversations you’ve, in fact, implicitly alluded to in the course of our conversation today, for the urban police chiefs in America, we are primarily judged by our ability to lower levels of violence in disadvantaged communities of color.

In those communities, crime has not significantly gone down; it’s gone down in some place called America, but in those neighborhoods there’s easy access to firearms, to which you’ve alluded, and there are extraordinary rates of violence.

Nationally, African-Americans represent 51 percent of our homicide victims, with about 13 percent of the population. In our cities, it’s more like 80 percent. And like most homicides, defendants look like the people that they victimize.

It’s an urban tragedy, but the heart of the police dilemma is those neighborhoods that demand our services — need us the most, request us the most, depend upon us the most for social and historical reasons — [also] distrust us… And so the challenge, the easy challenge that I offer you, in the next six months, but also I would hope, I would also hope beyond that is to use your authority, your influence, and your prestige as a convener to continue this discussion."

Obama: "Well, I appreciate what you said, Chief. Let me just pick up on a couple of themes that you said.

It is absolutely true that the murder rate in the African-American community is way out of whack compared to the general population, and both the victims and perpetrators are black, young black men.

The — the single greatest cause of death for young black men between the ages of 18 and 35 is homicide. And that’s crazy, that is crazy. And so we have to acknowledge that and that means that we can’t put the burden on the police alone.

… Now this is tough. I have presided over more memorials of mass shootings than I would like. And it’s heartbreaking. But that doesn’t even count the hundreds of [African-American] kids, just in the South Side of Chicago, who’ve been shot."

3 more cops dead in Baton Rouge. I wonder if these black guys gunning down cops will put an end to cops having itchy trigger fingers or make it worse. My guess is it will make it worse.

people that think Obama's rhetoric is "inflammatory" remind me of the people from 2001-2009 that complained Bush was too liberal for them.

I consider Obama's actual opinions and statements as largely "nonsense," which, by nature, can be "inflammatory" and "divisive." The guy needs to send proxies to express WH reactions until he leaves office.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch, in celebration of Ohio's open carry laws, it appears that armed to the tooth BLM and Black Panthers are about to start pouring onto the streets of Cleveland outside the Republican national convention, along with hell's angels and other biker gangs and white supremacist groups.

Looks like we might be in for some must-see TV.

hot diggity!

update from DNC in Philadelphia...

BLM definitely not racist and also not inciting any violence against cops. just look at this video from today's "Black DNC Resistance March Against Police Terrorism & State Repression" or said differently "Racist Anti-police Rally Against Problems That Don't Exist" and you'll clearly see it's all about equality and peaceful coexistence.
