The three quotes are contained in
this Article from the New York Times op Ed, in the fourth paragraph beginning with ?Israel has hypnotized the world. May Allah awaken the people and let them see the evil doings of Israel.? The other two tweets quoted Follow shortly afterword, including her comment that support for Israel is ?all about the Benjamins? And one with more text longer than I want to transcribe here but it follows immediately afterward.
Are they anti-Semitic? I guess it?s a matter of opinion.
Some of you may not have noticed this, but I love Humor that pushes the edges-racial, religious, ethnic, sexual orientation-I love humor that is about shit that makes people uncomfortable.
That said, I don?t think Omar is being humorous. This seems to be in the context of her serious opinions, rather than her being an Internet humorist living out her (his) Hollywood comedy writing fantasies on the Detroit sports forum.
Anyway, it is my opinion in the context that Omar?s statements are made that yes-These comments are anti-Semitic.
Most of you probably are aware that I?m not Jewish or even particularly religious, But my wife is Jewish-although she doesn?t really work very hard at it. Most of her family and longtime friends are the same, so for that reason I am possibly a little sensitive to anti-Semitism-although I must confess,That doesn?t stop me from making as many Jewish, racial, religious, ethnic, sexual orientation, political jokes at home as she allows me to get away with.
Hope this sheds a little light on the situation for everyone.
EDIT: Maybe it?s the fifth paragraph down.
