This is an excerpt from Joel Sherman's post about the Mets possible shopping Wright and gets word from Mets officials what they would want.

Word continues to circulate in baseball circles that the Mets will be willing to discuss David Wright in trades this offseason as part of a complete facelift/rebuild away from Wright and Jose Reyes.

Rondon? Only guy I know with that name plays for the Indians.
Bruce Rondon. http://www.baseball-reference.com/minors/player.cgi?id=rondon001bru Tigers pitching prospect, Flame thrower who needs better control

Wonder why they went from using his as a starter to now as a closer? [/quote:x6v9t13s]most likely because his lack of control and he thrives off from throwing as hard as he can so he most likely didn't last that long in games before running low on energy. He strikes out a lot of people so that could come in handy in situations with people on base and no outs. His potential is Zumaya, but without the injuries.

there's a post on him in the minor leagues thread.
throws sidearm with a sinking heavy fastball and slider.

Ugh, no Wright, just sign Reyes and move Peralta to 3b. Really the Tigs don't seem to have a prospect big enough for Wright unless the Mets will take Castellanos. I am just assuming they won't center around Turner especially given the Mets recent acquisition of Wheeler.

And you wouldn't do that?

Castellanos is team controlled for several years. Wright is getting near the other side of age 30 and is getting a salary of what, 13/14/15 M or more.
edit. 15M in 2012 and 16M option for 2013.
Sure we all want a team of allstars but can't afford it all at once.
Headley in a trade makes a bit more sense, or just put up with cringe and kelly, and concentrate on improving 2B, Middle relief, backup catcher, leadoff hitter.

At this point i'd take the better player. Who knows what Cantellanos does in his career.

Castellanos not Cantellanos, wise ass ;)

Mitch]And no one here knows what we can afford all at one time.

raises to Verlander and arbitration increases to several,
there is maybe 10M after the money off the books, Maggs, Carlos, etc. and the new money to players with the team for 2012.
It is all up to Ilitch, does he go back to 135M??
but again, they need the other positions upgraded before 3B.
who knows,

I understand that Kc. I just don't think we know if pizza man wants to spend 120m or 150m. You always here about getting MI wanting to get two stars. And I'm not sure he's talking about Verlander or Cabrera.

Wright had a terrible back injury last year......he is not worth the risk

Me?

It would be great if he bounced the payroll up to 150M. If he does then the talk to the Detroit media sites was for real and not just to warmup and stir the offseason talk from fans. By signing another 1 or 2 $18/20M players, that is a 180 degree turnaround from what 'Ilitch said' (assuming) to DD during the year.

I haven't been the poster(s) wanting a star at every position have I?
I suggested trading for Gardner, Zobrist, or McCarthy, or looking for a flier on Sizemore or DeJesus.

Looked at both sides of signing Reyes, and just slightly leaning towards it based on not having a good leadoff batter on this past year.

We have read, and will continue to see many stories from Detroit media sites, and Detroit bloggers, as well as posters, about signing this player or trading for that player.
Player(s) that are involved in signing/trading for will hopefully contribute as Tigers.

It's one thing for Pizza man to say "Yea, lets go get a couple guys and make a dynasty" while we were in the middle of skyrocketing to the ALC title.

When the dust clears and you look harder at the books maybe he thinks about it more.

I only heard mention of him saying he "might" spring for 2 big players, and that was only 1 time.

I honestly don't think we have the kind of money to play with people are thinking about, all you hear about is guys wanting big name players, but all we need is people who are competent enough to fill the holes at 5th starter, 2b and 3b.

We don't need Reyes, Wright, Kershaw, Lincecum or any other big name to win, we just need solid people to fill our holes.

We tried that in '08 with Sheffield, and got burned.

We tried filling holes this year and our offense sucked the entire playoffs. We debated last offseason signing another big arm and the choice not too killed us basically all year. If we dont add a bat and a lead off hitter this year we will regret it again.

You guys might be right but to honestly say you know what MI wants to do is being a bit short sitedness. We have no idea.
