Dead Money List

Moss got paid big money back in 2001 (Calvin like at the time in terms of cap %). Traded in 2005, traded in 2007, traded back to Minnesota in 2010. He never saw the back end of his deals because he's a bitch

Or NE is smart.

Levy better be the second coming of Derrick Brooks. When is Ziggy's contract up? Did congress raise the debt ceiling?

Ziggy under contract through 2016. And 5th year option for 2017 if they want.

Moss was old as shit when they traded him. Moss got to NE when he was 31, traded at 35. Calvin is only 30. So we should keep Calvin 3 more years.

Calvin turns 31 next September. Little younger than Moss but he shouldn't get another mega contract. Cut in salary or just plain cut.

Calvin is under contract. He won't need a mega contract. He'll stay on this one. Lions are well under the 2016 cap with Calvin and Stafford at 24 and 22 cap hits.

This is the highest year for Calvin in 2016. 24 to 21.3 to 17 to 18.25. Lions can handle that.

$0 guaranteed. We need like 10 starters.

Lions have a TON of space.

6 starters on D and Right Tackle. Some could be re-signs or other free agents.

Ansah, Levy,SAM with Van Noy or Bynes,Slay,Quin set. Reid/Wright,Carter could push to start with more experience at DT 2 and CB2. MLB may be set depending on Tulloch cap cut or not (6 million). Mathis still under contract too but may be better in reserve role given age.

Reiff,Laken,Swanson,Warford,Stafford,Abdullah/Riddick,Calvin,Tate,Ebron,Pettigrew. So just need RT on offense or LT and move Reiff to RT.

Lions have plenty of cap room. 8 draft picks. And Jason Jones, Tyrunn Walker, Ihedigbo, Travis Lewis and Whitehead could return pretty cheaply. We'll see what they do with Ngata after this year.

Isn't this basically the same team that's 1-6?

They have 6-1 talent still. But a new offensive tackle will help big time. Laken and Swanson should develop. Reiff has played better since Week 4 and in 2013/2014. Plus Warford healthier and can play better. Power scheme time.

They do have the cap room for good free agents at CB2, MLB, SS, LE and LT if you really want. Plus Ngata. But some of that will come from the draft too (8 picks plus 2 more comp picks).

Okung,Cordy Glenn and Donald Penn
Wilkerson, JPP, Vernon, Mike Daniels
Ngata or Raji or Knighton. Mebane We can bring Fairley, Sammie Lee Hill and Mosely back if you really want.
Derrick Johnson
Sean Smith, Amukamar, Janoris Jenkins, Josh Norman, Leon Hall, Hayward

I don't want to see CJ leave but $24M hastens the rebuild and he likely goes to a contender before he is totally shot. In my books that is a win-win.

There is no rebuild needed. Lions are well under the cap even at 24 million.

I agree and disagree. Teams rebuilding need big money to do it. Oakland had tons of cap room the last two years, and they are looking better, but not great yet. They spent like a teenage girls with daddy's Bloomingdale's card, and they have a foundation now.

But I do agree because I don't believe a rebuild is necessary. I know the same old people will chime in to tell me I am wrong, but this team has a ton of talent, and some huge holes to boot.

Holes that can easily be plugged with 24 million and draft picks. The problem this team has isn't a talent problem. It's a coaching problem.

Whether what opinion anyone has, based on what we've seen for the past few years and even this year, the "same old people" would be right.

And as I've always said I consider myself a young medium. Well, until my 50th in 2 weeks.
