Deals could be voided

Is this going to take as long as the football deflateagate? Sun's deal is the same numbers that was reported on the weekend. It's obviously they're quilty..

Was just reading another report out of Miami that said a local reporter was told two weeks before the free agent negotiating period opened that the team had a deal in place with Suh, but members of the Dolphins staff were told not to discuss it with anyone.

It sounds like they may have already had contact with, negotiations with, and a deal with Suh, two weeks before they were even allowed to talk to his agent.

If that is the case, clearly they interfered with the Lions attempt to sign their own player during a period in which the Lions had exclusive bargaining rights.

Wow. Lions deserve compensation, let's say 2 1st round picks or 3 seconds.

My point was, what are they waiting for? They take too freakin' long.. Always.

Come on dude, be real. Once Robert Kraft got openly accused in DeflateGate, it took them about 3 hours to find a locker room attendant on hundreds of cameras in a stadium full of people walking around with the game balls.

The FBI couldn't find anyone on film that fast in that crowd.

Of course, it also took them 3 months to see the video of Ray Rice knocking his fiance out, in an elevator with two people... AFTER the casino actually delivered them the tapes to their door.

Go figure.

I have no idea what it could turn into.

Teams have given up picks before for tampering, and it would be hard to argue that Suh was not the biggest free agent signing in history, since he just got the most guaranteed money ever payed to a player, beating out Aaron Rodgers by about $6MM.

When this first started, I thought getting a high draft pick from Miami was a fun discussion, but unrealistic and a pipe dream to boot. Now I am starting to wonder if the NFL could get away with any less.

force them to pay suh while he plays for us this year. suh and ngata....championship.

It's the Lions and the NFL hates the Lions. But they also hate Suh. Here Detroit, have an extra R7 Comp and you can have Mr. Irrelevant this year. Then they just have to calculate how to restrict Miami enough that Suh never wins a Super Bowl while there. Maybe strip them of their R1 pick and reduce allowed cap by 10+% for 3 years along with a fine. That cap hit along with Suh's salary should be sufficient to eliminate them from good FA signings. Good luck winning a Super Bowl!!! lol

They will conclude the investigation the day after Suh is released from Miami.....no matter what year it is.

Is their any protocol for a rules violation like this one? I would think that a first rounder should be in order seeing as how big of a contract he signed and being regarded as one of the best defensive players in the league.

It's pretty cool. I thought I would be more mad about him leaving but I'm not really. He wouldn't have been the sole reason we win a superbowl (lol) and it would have just made for more excuses if the team was mediocre going forward, that and the cap hell. I wanna see how these front office dudes put a team together and not swing off the nuts of top 5 picks.

If Miami is found guilty the penalty will probably be us switching our 3rd for their 2nd (since we don't have a 4th or 5th). Mia will probably forfeit some picks but I don't think we get anything extra.

If the get Miami's R2, they should package the R1 and both R2s to move up and draft a TE or RB. Yeah, that woukd be so Lion-esque!!!

If we get one of their picks, I hope it's this year. It'd make the Suh loss and Ngata trade look a million times better.

Miami's first round pick in 2015!

Alvin Dupree @ 14 and Eddie Goldman @ 24...go to a 3-4

Take an OL in the 2nd, Langford in the 3rd

Could you imagine?

3 way trade with detroit and Baltimore and miami

Baltimore gets 8 mill in cap space

Miami gets the best Dt in the league for 20 mil a year

Detroit gets a top 5 DT for half the cost (cap space) plus the number 14 pick?

I mean, that boils down to trading suh for ngata and #14. Insane if that happens.

If I were a fan of any other team who's star player was just pilfered with a tampering investigation on the heals of it, I would already be salivating at the thought of the 1st and 3rd we would ABSOLUTELY get from this.

I am a Lions fan though, so the 6th rounder they are going to hand us isn't really getting me that excited in the pantaloons.

EDIT: In fact, since we're the Lions, it's likely that we end up giving Miami a 3rd round pick when this is over, as punishment for driving up the price on Suh through bad contract restructures.
