Delmas flying in for a physical

“I almost feel like a girlfriend waiting at home that’s got a boyfriend that’s cheating on her. But it is what it is. I’m trying to see if I can stay at home and get a couple more years out of him,” Delmas said. “The Lions are cheating on me. They’re going to the club every damn night and staying out late night, trying to come back home to Daddy. But it’s all right. I do (still love them). That’s why I’m still here, I’m stuck with them.”

you're right. More than likely every player on this team will hit IR and we will lose all 16 games. I never said I guarantee he will ride into ford field on a unicorn and become the second come of Ronnie Lott. I said he was worth a reasonable deal and that he may have gotten past his injuries and be able to stay healthy.

From your post -- "He makes a huge difference when healthy and I see him finally shaking the injury bug and really contributing."

That's why I inquired about your medical degree status and access to check his knees.

Really? Let it go... Are you really that interested in starting some sort of stupid argument?

His optimism was misplaced, even if his heart was in the right place.

My optimism has been misplaced for longer than I care to admit, Lions-wise. OK...I'll relent. Apologies to Motown.

Dude its all good. Ive been a lions fan way to long to not understand where you are coming from. Every year I look at who we pick up in FA and draft and just wonder when they will be lioned. AKA ruined professionally. Also I havent posted on here much lately so an argument could have been fun if it wasnt over yet another blown second round pick haha.

ouch....delmas bad mouthing mayhew in public lol. atleast he will be good at looking up where the unemployment lines are on the internet :D

Louis Delmas - DB - Lions NFL Network's Albert Breer reports free agent S Louis Delmas has an offer on the table from the Lions, but Delmas still plans to test the market.
In other words, the offer wasn't great. Delmas exited the Lions' facility on Friday with pessimistic about his future -- or lack thereof -- in Detroit. "The Lions are cheating on me," he said. "They’re going to the club every damn night and staying out late night, trying to come back home to Daddy." Plenty of teams could use Delmas in the backend, including Philly, St. Louis, Minnesota, and Kansas City.

Maybe Mayhew has finally been burned enough with the plague of injuries that he is willing to let guys with bad injury histories go unless they sign minimal contracts. I can respect that, even if it does mean Delmas is no longer a Lion. He's a great hitter when on the field, but that is becoming less and less regular.

Best, Fox, all the undersized DBs who continually go on IR and we pull guys off the street, etc., etc., etc. Maybe it is finally sinking in that he needs guys with a lower probability of being injured???

You left out the part where Delmas said he still said their is a chance he would be back. They properly low balled hiim due to his injury. We'll see what his market price is now that he can negotiate.

Meh, whatever. I still want William Moore and one other FA in the secondary. Delmas can cripple it up for someone else. I like the guy and think he's a terrific player when healthy but he's just never healthy.

This is starting to turn into a fantastic FA class of DB's. If we can get some more cap room we should be able to build a pretty decent back end because the market will be so over saturated and a lot of guys will be looking to take one year "prove it" deals. There just won't be enough money to go around and give everyone the type of deal they want so instead they'll settle in the hopes of being able to put up a big year and cash back in next year when the market isn't so watered down.

As an aside, with all of these releases, does anybody else think maybe the DB market is going through a transition. Just feels like with the way teams are able to line up multiple weapons (both TE's and WR's) and move guys around to get the matchups they want that the CB market may be taking a hit and the value may be shifting more towards safety's. NYJ's want to get out from under the monster Reivis deal. PHI wanting to get out from under Aso's deal. Kinda feels like teams are realizing that you can somewhat effectively game plan around a shutdown corner so its a better idea to spread the money around and get guys who can match up with not only the shifty slot guys but also the big TE's, rather than lock up 10% of your overall cap and gut the rest of your unit for one DB who can be somewhat neutralized.

William Moore resigned with the Falcons this morning.
