Detroit Cunninghams vs the Houston Greens SL

Pistons 6-28 from three.
Rockets 13-30 from three.

Both of these teams look like another year in the lottery next season.

You might be right. But aside from Bey, Cade, and Hayes...most of these guys will be lucky to see the floor outside of garbage time.

Well this game won?t help the narrative on the national talk shows for the Pistons.

That was a shit show by the Pistons. Played only 1 decent quarter.

And here I thought the Cade vs Green talk would be thing I cared about the least after this game. I stand corrected.

Our young guys don?t look nearly as good as some of these other teams. Again Doumbouya has been in the league 2 years and looks the same. I like that Hayes as seems to play defense but his shot is in his head. The dude can?t shoot, and he gets sped up on offense and makes mistakes. He was hurt so I guess he gets a pass. We are missing Livers and Stewart.

Man the Pistons just can?t shoot. All this wide open shots missed.

That?s all espn will talk about. Glad I am off tomorrow so I won?t be listening to the car radio.

One of the better quotes I've heard about summer league is, "Don't have a take when it comes to summer league, but take notes." That is, you're not going to learn anything major about anyone from watching these games. But, you can start to identify skills (or lack there of) that are worth paying attention to in the regular season. For example, Cade looks really comfortable. The pace of the game doesn't seem too much for him (which hits a LOT of rookies), and he looks at ease playing his game. Maybe that means we'll see more out of him early, or that we'll see him trying more even if it doesn't work right away. On the flipside, he had some struggles getting all the way to the basket. Maybe that means his athleticism IS going to be more of a problem at the NBA level, or it just means that's not a strength of his game and something he'll be working on over time.

You could also look at the way the game was played as a team. Killian and Lee had the ball a LOT. Does this mean the coaching staff is really dedicated to Killian becoming something, that they want Cade to be a secondary ball-handler, or just that they want to make things easier for Cade as he starts out? We won't really know until mid-season. these are all things to notice, but not enough to really have a take on.

Jamorko Pickett had a breakout game with 18 points on 7-for-10 overall shooting and 4-for-4 from the 3-point line. Saddiq Bey (15 points, 10 rebounds) and Luka Garza (10 points, 12 rebounds) both tallied double-doubles, and Killian Hayes added seven points, six assists and five rebounds.
