Detroit Lions FA Thread

DHB?? Holy shit, bro, you're on a fn roll!!

Give me another one, man!! Cmon!!

we need someone that can stretch the field and get our offense back to a vertical passing game.....esp with Lombardi here now. Calvin is a waste of talent if hes stuck running a 7 yard post the entire year like he did last year. Tate isn't beating anyone down field. DHB isn't a very good WR...but he would serve a purpose. what purpose does an overpaid slot do when you already have Pettigrew's fat ass clogging everything with his patented 6 yard curl and bush is already underneath? Not to mention the move officially makes broyles completely useless and puts a nail in the coffin on the "was he worth it" debate.

YOu're right! I would rather have had Darius Heyward Bey who isn't a very good WR, but HEY! At least he could go deep and make people wonder if he might catch a lucky one. Sarcasm mode: OFF

Now that I'm being serious, Golden Tate, while not a #1 and definitely not #1b like a julio jones or Roddy White, is definitely 100% a great #2 in our offense. He catches the ball at a great rate, actually can go deep, gets a ton of YAC, he can also play in the slot and take a big hit if Stafford throws him into a bad position, and he'll catch those insanely hard throws that Staff is so famous for. He does exactly what this team needs out of a #2 WR.

This WR core is very similar to what Lombardi had in New Orleans. I don't foresee any problems. Please watch the videos before you argue with me. Tell me what I'm not seeing.

Tate is a good player. He was going up against very good defenses and good corners and still producing big plays. Can't wait to see what this offense can do with another quality play maker.

I'm not sure how many times I have to say it but I will say it again. HE ISN'T only a slot receiver. You can play him inside and outside as well as run endarounds. He is an effective blocker which will help open up outside runs. He can run clear out routes to make space for Bush. Having two guys with speed and route running ability like Megatron and Tate opens up the playbook. Tate consistently beats the DB thats guarding him. DHB can't catch. Never has been able to. I actually met a girl that was a track and field runner at Maryland and new DHB pretty well, she also was dating a player for the Redskins which is how I met her but I told her to tell him that if he ever learned to catch he would be a decent player. She not only laughed but agreed wholeheartedly and then texted him what I said. But you want to make him a Lion. The most drops in the league last year and you want to bring in a guy that can't catch. This is why no one takes your shit seriously, because you don't understand the F'n game. You are clueless.

I do understand the game....and thats why I would want a shitty wr like dhb on the outside instead of a guy that cant stretch the field. Tate wont make teams pay opposite calvin. Hes a younger version of nate....who also didn't make teams pay opposite calvin. i would have used tates money on a starting de. I dont really care how many ugly girls you know from maryland....i dont need to hear any stupid stories to know dhb sucks. Once again people are taking what i said first and trying to argue against me lol. Dhb fucking blows....and yes....id rather gave him on the team making peanuts than tate eating up all our cap space and the mediocre production I think we will see from him. Were tight on space....so what does mayhew do.....oh geez. ....let's go get another slot wr. And you can babble all you want about how hes more than just a slot.....but thats where he belongs cause hes not an elite wr on the outside.

Answer this: if we did have that guy, will Staff be able to hit him? If we had a guy that was a deep threat, the one you want, what makes you think our QB could compete those passes?

We need guys who can get open and hold onto the ball. Not 40 yard routes where our QB over throws him.

The second we get a number 2 wr ill love the signing. But at that point ill still think we could have used the money more wisely...mainly on one of our several defensive holes.

Agreed....but im just looking for a guy that can stretch the field so our fa target last year....Reggie...can be open underneath and calvin can do his thing on the other side without 3 guys on him.

So you want a guy to go long but not catch any passes, like a decoy?

again, watch the videos and tell me what he does that makes you think he isn't our #2 WR and is only a slot guy. Tell me what I missed. Every game I watched with him, he played on the outside and always drew the defense's best CB. He is our #2 WR and he will have a great year in 2014. Only thing that changes that is if the lions are in love with a WR in the draft.

I still think they draft one or should. Weather it's to be a number 2 or three. Because I'm not sure Durham or the other guy, the one we pick up last year should be more than a 4. We still need another good WR, imo.

I watched the 2nd video. He did alot of what nate does with the bubble screen game. Whenever he went deep he was smothered and made a great play on the ball (it is a highlight real). Teams will handle him 1 v1 which wobt provide anything for us schematically that we didnt have with durham. For all you morons out there....no, i dont think hes as bad as durham. Hes going to get the same attention durham git which doesnt open anything up for anyone else. Im sure he will make more out of the 1 v 1s than durham did....but alot of wrs in fa could say the same and were still sitting here with half a defense to field and no cap space to do anything about it.

Do you honestly think whoever they brought in would take coverage off of CJ? CJ will always have 2-3 guys on him.

The difference is l think there were cheap options like nicks or britt that could make teams pay deep 1 v 1. Tate has never been that guy. just cause a highlight video shows him doing that 2 or 3 times in his career doesnt make him that guy.

Ugh...seriously. I'm done trying to convince Hughes. We'll see in the fall.

And I agree, Mitch. I do hope we get someone that isn't durham or ogletree. Durham has his moments, but just isn't the answer. A ton of good WRs throughout the draft.

I've been waiting for a loooooong time for mayhew to make me eat crow. We sucked last year and havent upgraded the team thus far in fa imo. You dont need to convince me of anything. ...im still trying to be convinced that the team isn't run by a bunch of monkeys.
