Detroit Lions FA Thread

I dont see a FA #2 vet QB leading us if Stafford goes down for any long period of time. If he were to be out for a long time, the season would be a wash and i think the team would benefit more in drafting and developing one. Brian Xander has done a better job in evaluating talent in one year that i can say I have ever seen since the late 80's. If he has a year like last evaluating talent he will be long gone next year.....unless we make him our GM.

We won 11 games in two years with him. The season was a wash with him..

TEAMS win and TEAMS lose....its not all on him. Best Lions qb since ummmmm ever.

Or youve been looking at ugly girls for so long you dont know what a good one looks like or maybe your not so attractive to get the good looking ones.

Pretty sad when the best qb in franchise history is an inaccurate qb who has never won anything.

Teams win and teams lose...he doesn't win or lose anything. Btw. Shaun Hill is expected to sign a 1-yr deal with the Rams

Detroit had to go 63 yards to score on average (longest for anyone in the league). They only had 18 times they started in opponents territory (29th in league). Stafford STILL had 29 TDs (6th in the league and was 4th in yards and 6th in 3rd down conversion %). Despite 10 ints in the teams 9 losses, the 9 losses weren't mainly on Stafford. There were 15 fumbles too, many not Stafford (12 not Stafford). Stafford is the one who kept them in games despite having to drive the farthest (63 yards), having 20 teams with more turnovers forced than he got and despite injuries and drops plaguing his WRS.

Room for improvement yes. But anyone who doesn't like Stafford is REALLY REALLY taking him for granted.

that's cause our defense sucks. nice job mayhem!

Defense doesn't suck at everything. Getting stops rather good actually. First in league 3rd down stop %. They were middle of the pack with 15 ints. It's that pesky bad bounce fumble recovery rate (only 7 recovered). Plus some defensive injuries in Ansah, Houston and Bentley. Mathis, Slay and Bentely all have talent but need to force more turnovers plus get normal recovery rates.

The analogy went right over your head

Secondary was average in most categories despite injuries. Including yards allowed, TDs allowed, completion % allowed, QB rating and interceptions.

Their secondary only had 8 INTs. That seems a little below average to me.

Detroit had 15 ints in total pass defense. 15 was average. Slay and Bentley do need to pick more balls off in 2014 since they had zero. But they aren't talentless CBS. They are young and developing.

Wright and Smith had 8 in 2011. But they suck and just gambled.

3rd down stop % was incredible last year....i dont remember the last time we were even remotely that good at stops on 3rd downs. With that said due to the inability of our cb's to play bump and run teams were killing us with short routes. I think Houston is an average starting cb's but we need an overhall. These Cb's are not strong enough to effectually play close up on the bigger faster wr's which is causing these guys to also get injured.
