Detroit Lions FA Thread

No one knows nothing for sure but I can take an educated guess that the whole off-season has been about $tafford.

Ihedigbo and Tapp were about Stafford? Pettigrew won't block at all only go out to catch? Bell on a 3 year deal is all about Stafford not having a good 1-2 back combo. Try again

I would have went with any kind of depth over a TE. We're average, who injured occur we're well below average.

That I don't know, would you want to come here? But hypothetical I would went with someone on defense..
so you don't know who was even available at the time of the Pettigrew deal, yet you wanted "someone on defense", even if they never saw the field. you don't know if we offered to anyone who was potentially available.

your blind hatred towards Pettigrew is pretty obvious, but the fact that you can't even come up with an alternative is sad.

Everybody sees the field..because apparently we have a unfortunate amount of injury. I don't have hate for Pettigrew, it's the fact TE mean little unless you're a star which Pettigrew isn't..

Like Bell RB depth? Tapp DE depth? Ihedigbo starting no good because he's not depth. Technically Isa Abdul Quddus (some starting experience) and Don Carey(solid at safety, sucks at nickel) were signed this offseason for safety depth. Raiola was technically signed to this offseason. Starting center. Plus we got a draft for some depth.

I like Green and Greenwood as depth at CB. Every game each has played they have done a solid job (Green 2012, second half Ravens/Giants game and Greenwood Giants/Vikings game). Whithead,Lewis and Hepburn are complete unknowns.

But again we got a draft.

Add about 10 more guys we'll be there. Half those guys were already on the team..

I've been hearing that for a lot of years..

Just because they are on the team already doesn't mean they are bad depth. You look to see a new face, I like to see the players develop. And even if they sucked in 2013, that doesn't mean jack for 2014. Goes the other way too though. A guy like Levy could have a down year.

But with them our depth was still lacking..what were the problems last season? I blame $taff a lot, you don't. So where? Defense, we set like a record for fourth quarter meltdowns...

Getting rid of pettigrew would have been a mistake. I would much rather draft a cb at 10 than a TE. Pettigrew blocks and catches well. Not too many guys do both well. He just drops the ball at the worst time.

Defense had its issues, offense had its issues, special teams had its issues. They all important

Depth was not lacking everywhere. Green and Greenwood played well, Slay played well as a depth player making the start against GB and at Min (so if we get Gilbert, Slay is depth is why I mention this), Taylor did well at DE, Bell did well, Waddle did well and is now a starter, Hilliard was solid, Fauria is a depth redzone threat.

WR depth and nickel CB depth did not do well (when we had to turn to Carey). Technically Mathis was the nickel depth but there were usually multiple injuries so Carey had to play nickel. And Gomes stunk for a half at safety (due to Carey playing nickel when Quin and Bentley went down and Slay was on the bench).

QB depth, Guard/Center and LB depth was untested in 2013.

Offense moved the ball and scored a decent amount. Then $tafford does his thing :). But the defense just fails at the wrong time and IMO, I would use whatever we had to improve the defense. As the saying goes, Seattle showed how defense can overpower any offensive..

Well I don't call that good depth. You've said often enough that some of our losing comes back to "unlucky" injury, flukes. If we had good depth like you think we have then we should have been okay.

this is true... which is why i only want 2 offensive players drafted (WR and OC), the rest should be defense... period

WR depth was not there. And there were multiple WR injuries (top 3 guys). Overall there is good depth (Tackle,DT,DE,CB,RB,TE). And some untested depth mainly at guard/center and LB the last 2 years. And now a questionmark at backup QB.

And if we add a WR in the draft, I wouldn't say we would have good depth still at 4 and 5 with Durham and Ogletree but we should have more duralbe guys with Tate and the rookie than Burleson and Broyles. And Broyles should be the number 4 but I can't count on him.
