Detroit Lions FA Thread

I'm curious. Does anyone think a team besides the Bucs, Browns, and Bronco defense got any better? It's a lot of shuffling around players but I'm not all that disappointed with the lack of movement by the team so far.

wouldn't it be ironic if the Lions did beat the broncos in the super bowl? it'd be hilarious

Golden Tate is a stronger receiver than he gets credit for being. Tate earned a +11 grade catching 68.8% of his 93 targets for 14 YPC in the run first Seattle offense. Tate had 898 yards and 5 touchdowns, and proved to be dangerous in the open field with a high 7.9 YAC/reception and caused a whopping 21 missed tackles. Tate had 5 touchdowns and is very sure handed with only 2 drops. Tate can play outside or the slot and would be a great mid-level pickup for many WR needy teams. Touchdown Seahawks.

Let's hope he continues that trend.

I like Tate as a player, reminds me a lot of Steve Smith. Plays way bigger than his size. He is kinda of a cocky asshole like Desean Jackson though. If the deal is like Burlesons when he came to Detroit, than I am happy with it.

Tate: "Yes I am taking the deal (with Lions). 5-yr deal for $31M + $13.25M guaranteed."

I like the Tate signing. Plus in Seattle's offense he couldn't really reach his potential. I think in the 1v1s he will face here he could end up being much more dynamic. With Bush out of the backfield and Megatron he should get more space to be moved all over to create mismatches with his speed. Probably to good for most nickel corners and has shown ability to get open quickly. Has good release off the line and while not the fastest or biggest has a knack for getting into open spaces.

I don't think this eliminates us from drafting a wr in the second round which could still have plenty of available talent. I am looking at us drafting a S or CB in the first now obviously. Its Gilbert or HHCD at 10 or a trade down for Dennard. Pryor is also in play but I see HHCD as fitting the scheme a bit better since we already have Quinn as more of a centerfielder.

the Browns just shuffeled players too.

Lost TJ Ward and signed Whitner (slight downgrade)
Lost D'Qwell Jackson and signed Dansby (wash)

Tate had the highest YAC/reception in the league, 68% catch rate and the 21 was the most missed tackles forced by a WR in the entire league.

Was thinking 5 year 25 million but with the cap rise 5 year 31 million makes sense.

Tate looks like a better version of nate burleson. Better hands, better tackle breaking ability, and better at making plays on the ball. I think if used properly could be a real threat in the slot.
