Detroit Lions FA Thread

Tate looks like a better version of nate burleson. Better hands, better tackle breaking ability, and better at making plays on the ball. I think if used properly could be a real threat in the slot.
i think Tate is the version of Burleson, when NB went to SEA from MIN. i think he's nearly the exact same player, but a little stronger. i also think that Tate can be a force on the outside, as well as in the slot.

I think thats a good comparison also. He is allusive and strong even though hes not that big. Should be a nice addition. He can create for himself which is something this team needs badly.

I like the Tate signing. Plus in Seattle's offense he couldn't really reach his potential. I think in the 1v1s he will face here he could end up being much more dynamic. With Bush out of the backfield and Megatron he should get more space to be moved all over to create mismatches with his speed. Probably to good for most nickel corners and has shown ability to get open quickly. Has good release off the line and while not the fastest or biggest has a knack for getting into open spaces.

I don't think this eliminates us from drafting a wr in the second round which could still have plenty of available talent. I am looking at us drafting a S or CB in the first now obviously. Its Gilbert or HHCD at 10 or a trade down for Dennard. Pryor is also in play but I see HHCD as fitting the scheme a bit better since we already have Quinn as more of a centerfielder.

Between the two, I thought HHCD was more of the centerfielder while Pryor brought the wood.

you are correct. HHCD plays in space a lot better than Pryor. Pryor is similar to Delmas, and could be found out of position quite a bit in the NFL.

You are correct. I always get them mixed up since I perceive Dix as the bigger player so i assume he is more of the box player.

Golden Tate has dropped 5 of 149 catchable passes in the last 3 seasons, lowest rate of any WR. Best hands in the NFL

If that info is factual....than Tate will be a good test to see if its more Stafford to blame for all these drops....or the WRs.

I was thinking that as well. Statistically speaking the guy has the best hands in the NFL. You'd have a REAL hard time convincing me that if he starts dropping balls that it's not a Stafford issue.

good deal. didn't overpay. glad hes here. disappointed if we roll into the season and hes our #2. Still should be looking WR in rd 1 or rd 2 and it should be specifically a bigger body on the outside that can stretch the field. Post combine...after he ran a 4.40 and being 6'3''....moncrief is my guy in rd 2.

I'm curious to see if Tate takes over PR duties and if Ross handles kickoffs.
