Detroit Lions Week 2 report card: Stafford not good enough, secondary struggles.
It was a better report card, but it was far from good enough.

Lions Week 2 snap counts: Kerryon Johnson nearing starter status, Kerry Hyder gets big demotion.
It looks like the rookie running back is ready to take on a starting role.

2019 NFL Mock Drafts: Yep, the Detroit Lions are picking 1st overall.
If the season ended today, the Lions would be picking first, and a pass rusher is the logical choice.

Pride Of Detroit Lions PODcast breaks down Lions? loss to 49ers, examines what?s wrong with Matthew Stafford. 77 minutes.
The PODcast crew breaks down everything from the Lions? Week 2 loss.

The PODcast wanted to waste no time in getting this week?s show out. With the Detroit Lions? disappointing loss to the San Francisco 49ers still fresh in our mind, the PODcast crew went to the recording booth (just our respective houses) Sunday night to spill our thoughts into your earholes.

The game was a little more palatable, but the end result was the same. Do we feel better about this team right now? Should we feel better about this team right now?

And what the heck is up with Matthew Stafford? This is a guy who was so damn close to winning over the entire city of Detroit?a near impossible task for a Lions quarterback?and he?s looked so much worse than expected. Sunday was better, but should we be worried about his long-term prospects?

We talk about all of this and much, much more on this week?s episode of the PODcast:

This week on the PODcast:
Another controversial ending! Did the refs get the penalty on Quandre Diggs right?

THE LIONS ALMOST ESTABLISHED THE RUN GAME.

LeGarrette Blount: Way to stick up for your quarterback or stupid play that very well could?ve hurt this team?s chance at a comeback?

Matthew Stafford was better but still worse than is expected out of him. Are we worried yet?

Good cop, bad cop. Jeremy tries to go a whole segment focusing on the positive, but Chris plays bad cop and points to impending doom on the schedule.

Wally?s World returns to examine hot takes about Matt Patricia?s weight, while Jeremy enters the rage corner to complain about clock management... again.

Mailbag doesn?t like horror movies, talks about the future of Golden Tate, Ezekiel Ansah and Glover Quin, and the increased role of Kerryon Johnson.

Detroit Lions Podcast Episode 169 ? Lions and 49ers Postgame Show. 72 minutes.

In this live episode of The Detroit Lions Podcast, Chris is joined by the always amazing Sandman to conduct a live postgame therapy session for Lions fans frustrated by the loss that the Detroit Lions suffered at the hands of the San Francisco 49ers today.

Detroit Lions Podcast Therapy Session Needed
There wasn?t a lot of positivity heading into this week after the Monday night opener in which the Lions took a shellacking from the embarrassingly bad New York Jets. This was a game in which the Lions needed to show their character. Unfortunately, the character the Lions exhibited provided very little differentiation to the teams of the last few years under the Caldwell regime. That being said, it was a marked improvement over week 1.

We don?t just concentrate on the bad in this episode of the Detroit Lions Podcast postgame show, there were a number of promising things to take away from the game. The most important has been the growth of Kenny Golladay. He showed great skills on the field and was one of the brightest spots in a game that was marred by numerous penalties and poor execution.

Even with the difficulties the Detroit Lions had, they were able to stay in the game long enough to force the San Francisco 49ers to fight hard against the inevitable Matthew Stafford comeback attempt. Of course, a team that lives on the edge like the Detroit Lions do will often find themselves falling short. That is the final note on what happened this week.

Lions DC Paul Pasqualoni on Teez Tabor starting last week: "We have a high regard for all those guys back there regardless. We're just trying to get the right guys in the game and that we're using all the personnel we have, the talents that we have. Those are game plan things each week." Said he has "excellent confidence" in both Lawson and Tabor.

Lions OC Jim Bob Cooter said he felt Matthew Stafford's deep ball inaccuracy was "a little bit of an outlier" and doesn't believe it was a trend. Said he'd like to stay aggressive with it and take their shots downfield.
