November 26, 1970: Mel Farr rushes for 121 yards & scores a touchdown in the Lions' 28-14 comeback win over the Raiders on Thanksgiving Day at #TigerStadium
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Cxy5rvQXcAEgOtG.jpg

That 1970 Thanksgiving day game vs. the oakland raiders remember it well.
I hated all oakland teams from a carryover of the Tigers vs. a?s in the late 1960?s including the Tigers ?68 Championship season, but the oakland athletics like the raiders were a bunch of dirty bastards, with beanball brawls throwing at Northrup, Willie Horton, and Kaline who had his arm broken by Huge Shithead Lew Krause a pitcher for the a?s. So I wanted the Lions to destroy the raiders.

Unfortunately, it was all raiders the first quarter and my blood was boiling, swearing under my breath so family couldn?t hear me cursing. The rest of the game was all Lions as they shut the raiders down and won going away 28 ? 14.

After the game Wayne Walker said he was talking to George Blanda after a 3 down play failed for oakland and Blanda said in so many words to Wayne that the game was over. Walker replied to Blanda, "Hey old timer there is a lot of football that is still to be played".

The great Charlie Sanders caught 2 touchdown passes and one was one of his patented acrobatic catches in mid air, Altie Taylor with a td pass catch and Mel Farr with a TD.

Pride Of Detroit Lions Blog PODcast recaps Lions-Bears, discusses Matthew Stafford?s future in Detroit. 82 minutes.
The PODcast tackles another disappointing loss and looks to the future.

The PODcast crew is back from their mini Thanksgiving hiatus. The gang spent the holidays stuffing their face with Thanksgiving pizza and homemade pie, waiting waaaay too long in Black Friday lines, and testing the limits of their old bodies in a game of two-hand touch.

But the holiday is behind us and now it?s time to face the cold reality. The Detroit Lions got swept by the Chicago Bears, and suddenly Lions fans are trying to serve Matthew Stafford?s head on platter.

The Lions put up a good fight on Thanksgiving, but a couple of big errors from their quarterback?and tight end?sunk the team to a point they likely won?t recover from this season.

So where to we go from here? That?s what the crew discusses on this week?s episodes:
This week on the PODcast:
Was this the Lions? best game since the road game against the Miami Dolphins?

LeGarrette Blount certainly shut us the hell up. But is he capable of another performance like that or was that one last flash in the pan?

Was Jim Bob Cooter?s offensive game plan too conservative, or was that the reason the Lions had a legitimate chance to win the game?

Will this defense be able to stop a single quarterback this year?

Alright, let?s just talk about it. Matthew Stafford cost Detroit this game.
What does this mean for his future with the Lions. Are people seriously thinking about trading him?

The gang talks about the final five games of the season.
Should Kerryon Johnson come back?
When are we going to see more Tracy Walker?

Mailbag talks about dream broadcasting crews, how close the Lions? roster is to having its foundation, and bad sports talk radio.

Lions' Jamal Agnew hints at late-season return.

Lions CB Jamal Agnew, currently on injured reserve, spoke for the first time since he got hurt against Green Bay.
Said it was a partial tear of his knee (he declined to say which ligament) but that he's doing well now. When asked if he was running yet, he wouldn't confirm that but said "I've been doing a lot of things." He could be eligible to return from IR later this season, but doesn't know if that will happen. He said when he first got hurt, he didn't know if he would be able to come back this season, but "I'm not a doctor, so I don't know how credible that is."
He said he was more frustrated than anything else. "My goal is always to win," Agnew said. "Back of my head I'm always thinking longevity and protect myself but I'm feeling pretty great right now. Like I said, it's not my decision to get activated or not but I've just been working hard, putting myself in that position to make that decision a little bit easier for them." Agnew was an All-Pro returner as a rookie last season.

2018?s highest graded Detroit Lions players, per PFF.
A look at the highest graded Lions players for the 2018 season according to PFF.
Week-by-week, we like to take a look at the Detroit Lions players that earn the highest Pro Football Focus grade in each game. Every week, we see guys like Da?Shawn Hand or Damon Harrison dominate the rest of the team.

Now, thanks to the Detroit PFF Twitter account, we can see how the players stack up after three months of work. Here?s a look at the highest graded players for the entire season through Week 12. For the offense:
Here are the @Lions highest graded players on offense through Week 12:

1. WR Kenny Golladay (@kgxix) - 82.0
2. HB Kerryon Johnson (@AyeyoKEJO) - 80.8
3. QB Matthew Stafford - 76.1
4. T Rick Wagner - 72.9
5. G T. J. Lang (@TJLang70) - 72.0

If there?s one positive thing to take from this season, it?s that the Lions? two young playmakers on offense are dominating this early in their respective careers. Kenny Golladay and Kerryon Johnson may be centerpieces of this offense going forward, especially with Golden Tate gone and Marvin Jones Jr. with only two years remaining on his contract.

It may surprise some to see Matthew Stafford with a grade this high??above average? per PFF?s scale, but 16th overall.

POD

Here?s what it looks like on defense:
Here are the @Lions highest graded players on defense through Week 12:

1. DI Damon Harrison (@snacks) - 91.3
2. DI A'Shawn Robinson (@AshawnRobinson) - 89.9
3. DI D'Shawn Hand (@TheHand54) - 88.0
4. S Quandre Diggs - 69.5
5. CB Darius Slay (@_bigplayslay23) - 68.9 #OnePride

Well, the interior of the defensive line appears to be set. Literally the only three Lions defenders that have a grade above ?average? are Detroit?s three interior defenders: Damon Harrison Sr., A?Shawn Robinson and Da?Shawn Hand.

Obviously the Lions went through a huge defensive overhaul this year, both in terms of personnel and scheme, but I?m not sure many expected things to be this bad, especially in the secondary.
