Detroit Lions players were not happy about the field conditions in Arizona.
There?s no doubt the grass condition affected Sunday?s game.
The Detroit Lions may have won on Sunday, but that didn?t mean they were very happy about what transpired in Arizona.
Throughout the entire game, players from both teams were slipping and sliding on the slick grass at State Farm Stadium. Despite the field being ?indoors,? the Cardinals use real turf that they treat specifically for gameday.
However, after Sunday?s game, several Lions players complained about the field conditions.
?That field is so high-tech,? Ricky Jean Francois said according to MLive.com. ?Taking it outside, watering it, doing everything to it, damn near gardening it, and then we come in an NFL game and we?re tearing it up that easily. You pay too much for a stadium like this to have grass that bad. I?m just saying, if you?re going to spend billions, you might as well cover everything.?
The Lions just so happened to suffer a lot of injuries on Sunday, too. And while it may be jumping to conclusions to suggest the field conditions had to do with some of the injuries, it certainly may have played a part:
Not saying the field is to blame here -- but three of the four Lions injuries today (Wagner, Hand and Ansah) have all come in the same general area of a beat up field at Arizona.
The players wouldn?t go as far as saying the field was to blame for injuries, but it?s clear they weren?t very happy with the condition they had to play in.
?The field was awful,? Nevin Lawson said. ?I don?t understand how we got an indoor, and this field was awful.?
