Detroit Lions - Team Notes

The Lions signed CB Rashaad Reynolds on Wednesday and waived/injured CB Ian Wells. Wells suffered a knee injury during Tuesday's joint practice. Reynolds was with the Jaguars on IR and practice squad the past two seasons. He played college ball at Oregon State.

TJ Jones back at practice for the Lions on Wednesday. Don't know how much he will do but he has helmet and pads.

Rafael Bush back at practice for the Lions, too, after missing Tuesday's practice due to the birth of his daughter.

Darius Slay not going to get another shot at Antonio Brown. The Lions corner is sitting out today's practice. He seemed adamant about wanting another chance at defending Brown yesterday.

Lions LB Jon Bostic left the field in Latrobe on a cart. Didn't see what happened to him, but he has been trending toward a roster spot. Was running with the No. 2 LBs with DeAndre Levy out after a brief spurt with the first team.

TJ Jones and Andre Caldwell are walking through some reps with the Lions. First work either one has had in a few days. Caldwell still no pads where Jones is wearing them.

The Lions and Steelers have finished joint practices and are all chatting and shaking hands now. Mostly peaceful two days of work.

Lions HC Jim Caldwell said "it is not a couple day thing" with Jon Bostic. Was carted off today in practice.

Lions HC Jim Caldwell said a medical situation held Darius Slay out of practice. Said it was not a hamstring or mental thing.

Eric Ebron (ankle) isn't expected to play in Friday's preseason opener.
With Ebron and Brandon Pettigrew (knee, PUP) out, blocking specialist Matthew Mulligan will probably run with the first-team offense. Undrafted rookie Cole Wick, a standout in the spring, should also play plenty.

In Tuesday's joint practice with the Steelers, Matthew Stafford attempted 14 passes in live drills, and Jones was the target on seven. He caught six of the passes, while no other Lions receiver caught more than two. Jones has been "catching everything in his orbit" this summer, and has taken over as Stafford's "favorite target" and the "clear-cut deep threat." Jones has a chance at his first 1,000-yard season this year.
