Detroit Lions - Team Notes

The Lions took DE Jeremiah Valoaga off PUP this morning. He's a UDFA.

Lions not practicing Friday: Eric Ebron, T.J. Lang, Ryan Spadola, Cornelius Washington, Thurston Armbrister, Mike James.
Red no-contact jerseys: Theo Riddick, Don Carey, Tavon Wilson.

Lions safety Tavon Wilson directed all questions about the civil suit against him to his attorneys. He said he didn't know if he would have to travel to D.C. at all to deal with it.

Best play from Lions practice: It wasn't a play so much as a collision between WR Marvin Jones and LB Jarrad Davis in 7-on-7 work.
The hit -- Jones stayed up after and kept moving -- elicited the loudest cheer of the day from the small crowd at practice. After, Lions coach Jim Caldwell didn't seem to have much problem with it despite the Lions doing their best not to tackle in practice.

Rookie report from Lions practice: Rough day for CB Teez Tabor. He got beat deep twice during individual periods, once by Jared Abbrederis and once by fellow rookie Kenny Golladay, who just ran away from him to make the grab in the end zone.

Overheard: Safety Charles Washington has an interesting habit. When players are being interviewed post-practice, he'll go up to them and try to untie their shoes. Sometimes the players laugh, other times they roll their eyes. When he did this to Tavon Wilson on Friday, he chuckled for a second. "He's bored," Wilson said. "He's a little bored, that's all. Just trying to make training camp fun."

Glover Quin?s contract extension saves Lions over $1.4 million in 2017.
The Lions created a little more cap room for this year.
Details on Glover Quin?s two-year extension are out, thanks to ESPN?s Michael Rothstein.
According to Rothstein, Quin?s 2017 cap hit decreased from $7.8 million to $6.4 million, with hits of $6.5 million in 2018 and $7.9 million in 2019.
