Lions' run-stuffing 'D' smacks of 2014.
Detnews

The numbers speak for themselves. The Lions have allowed opponents to rush for just 74.6 yards per game, good for third in the NFL. The 3.3 yards per carry is tied for fourth. And the Lions are just one of two teams to not allow an opponent to record a run of 20 yards or longer.

In 2014, the Lions held opponents to a league-low 69.3 yards per game, and only two managed to eclipse the 100-yard mark.

In a weird bit of timing, here's what Detroit Lions coach Jim Caldwell said about the toughest place he ever had to coach in -- Syracuse. Even more valid now after the Orange upset No. 2 Clemson on Friday night. "What I think the toughest stadium is to play in that I've ever been around, it's Syracuse. Back in college, alright? That's the toughest one. It's the hardest one to hear. It's noisy. It's a matter of fact, back in my old days when I was in college, I was up in the box, and the windows were open at that particular location, and you literally could not hear the guy sitting next to you talk. It's so loud. So, that's probably the place that created the most noise for us. That was back in the old days when there were two really good teams playing and that kind of thing. But every stadium has it's own challenges."
