The Tigers have signed second rounder Jake Thompson for a straight slot $532K bonus, reports Jim Callis. The high school right-hander from Texas was Detroit's top pick after forfeiting their first rounder to sign Prince Fielder.

The Tigers have signed right-hander Cesar Carrillo according to Brian Britten, the team's director of media relations. The 28-year-old spent part of last season with an independent league team. Carrillo was once considered a top prospect in the Padres' system, and his only big league experience came with them in 2009 -- 13.06 ERA in three starts.

Lakeland OF Tyler Collins is tied for the FSL lead w/ 20 doubles. He's batting .300 this season & .390 in June.

Lakeland reliever Tyler Clark is 3-0 with a 1.13 ERA, 0.91WHIP & 31K over 24 innings this season.

Tigers fans may remember him for the name, but Confesor Lara is on the mound now in the DSL, 5.2 IP, 2 H, 1 R/ER, 1 BB, 2 K...fun to follow

Also for Tigers fans wondering where bonus baby third baseman Adelyn Santa is in the DSL, he's been dealing with a cut on his hand and is day-to-day.

Congrats to Nick Castellanos on being selected the TOPPS Player of the Month for May in the Florida State League.

In 277 plate appearances, Nick Castellanos has a .456 BABIP in two levels of the minor leagues this year.

Regarding Nick Castellanos' removal from the game last night, sounds like a minor injury issue, nothing serious. Working on details.
 
Tigers sign two more prospects, LHP Preston Jamison (30th round) and C Charlie Neil (37th round), giving them 17 signed so far.

Make that 18 draft picks have signed;
Tigers have signed fourth-round draft pick Drew VerHagen, RH reliever, from Vanderbilt. Four top picks have been inked.

RHP Brenny Paulino had shoulder surgery recently...just a "cleanup," but still not good....
