Detroit Tigers' Lakeland home quiet on Christmas, just weeks before players arrive for 2013 spring training.

LAKELAND, Fla. ? The grounds were eerily quiet today.
With palm trees overhead and a perfect central Florida Christmas Day, there were few sounds at TigerTown, just the tick-tick of the sprinklers spitting on a back field and the birds swirling and chirping overhead.
But February 12 is not that far away, when pitchers and catchers report to Joker Marchant Stadium. So soon, it will be filling up with the American League champions.

Pitcher Victor Larez could be sleeper for Tigers in 2014.
from the freep

Larez struck out 59 batters and allowed two home runs in 68 innings this past season at Class A Lakeland. He had a 1.72 ERA in 35 appearances. It was his best season in the organization since signing as a non-drafted free agent in December 2005.

Larez (6'3", 160lbs.) has continued to pitch well for Caracas in the Venezuela Winter League. He has a 0.83 ERA in 30 appearances. He has 24 strikeouts and has allowed 18 hits and 11 walks in 32 2/3 innings.

Fangraphs has Jake Thomson at 3, almost forgot about him. I'm looking forward to seeing how he does over the next couple years. He had a nice start after being drafted..The Tigers site had him ranked 20, but there rankings seem way off..

Tigers have signed right-hander Michael Dubee and brought back outfielder Michael Hernandez on minor-league deals, team official confirmed.
Michael Hernandez spent his first two seasons in Tigers organization. He was traded to Rangers in exchange for Armando Galarraga in 2007.
