Detroit Tigers Team Notes Over 3 Million Views!!! Thankyou!

Tigers receive sparkling AL title rings.
DETROIT -- Comerica Park wasn't the only diamond that caught the Tigers' eyes Saturday. Members of last season's team received their 2012 American League championship rings in a pregame ceremony.
As with their 2006 AL title rings, the team didn't spare the details.
According to a release from ringmaker Jostens, the top of the ring includes the Old English D logo sparkling with 47 round brilliant cut diamonds. The Tigers logo sits on top of a baseball diamond in fire blue spinel stone with more diamonds.
Each ring includes the player's name, the Old English D and the Tigers head logo on one side, outlined with 11 round brilliant cut diamonds -- one diamond for each AL pennant the franchise has won.

As I have posted before, its a shame that ESPN's more robust reformatting ruined your ability to continue to do so on the old Detroit Tigers messageboard. You had many visitors who were fans of other ballclubs who often browsed it, and I had occasionally noticed it being mentioned on the MLB General board in some threads as well.

Thanks Doug,
You were there from the beginning, and many other Tigers posters that moved over from espn. I think we all felt bad back then, but like so many times in life, a door closes and another one opens up. Espn had so many quirks where I couldn't post links from some places, or some words weren't allowed because they looked wrong.
It made me feel glad and proud for our Tigers board with all the traffic. There were many that came over and most made nice comments. Even at the end, posters from other fan bases, saying they would miss it, even though they rooted for another team.
Like you say, here's to the next 20,000 posts. Hope we are all in good health to enjoy, and hope the Tigers win a World Series to put all those links in this Team Notes thread.

I noticed that Miggy's image shows him holding another silver bat along with the one affixed to the plaque. But in Prince's image, he doesn't have another one, or at least it wasn't pictured?

Hmmm...why would MLB award a separate bat, unless it was just a demo model, or Miggy asked for a heavy, solid sterling silver bat to use while in the on-deck circle...haha!!

Both Prince and Miggy have won 3 Silver Sluggers in their careers, Miggy in '06 @ 3B (NL) '10 @ 1B (AL) and '12 @ 3B (AL) Prince @ 1B in '07 (NL) '11 (NL) and '12 (AL).

Its for winning the batting title. They shouldve made a triple crown award...

1873 - John McGraw is born in Truxton, New York. A fiery third baseman for the 1890s Baltimore Orioles, McGraw will achieve much more recognition as an innovative, autocratic field manager. In his 31 years at the helm of the New York Giants, McGraw's teams will gain 10 National League pennants, finish second 11 times and take home three World Series trophies. He ranks second all-time with 2,840 wins as a manager. In 1933, he will return from retirement to manage the National League in the very first major league All-Star Game. As a player, he was credited with helping to develop the hit-and-run, the squeeze play and other strategic moves. McGraw will be elected to the Hall of Fame by the Special Veterans Committee in 1937.

1918 - Bobby Doerr is born in Los Angeles, California. A hard-hitting second baseman, Doerr will bat .288 in 14 seasons with the Boston Red Sox and reach the 100-RBI mark six times during his career. Doerr will gain Hall of Fame honors in 1986.

1971 - The dismissal of Curt Flood's suit against Major League Baseball is upheld by a three-judge U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals. The verdict will be appealed to the U.S. Supreme Court.

1983 - Major League Baseball, ABC, and NBC agree to terms on a six-year television package worth $1.2 billion. The two TV networks will continue to alternate coverage of the playoffs, World Series, and All-Star Game through the 1989 season with each of the 26 clubs receiving $7 million per year in return. The last package gave each club $1.9 million per annum.

1984: Jack Morris of the Detroit Tigers pitches a no-hitter against the Chicago White Sox. Morris strikes out eight and walks six in shutting down the Sox at Comiskey Park. Morris becomes the first Tiger since Jim Bunning, who accomplished the feat in 1958, to toss a no-hitter.

1986 - At Tiger Stadium, Boston Red Sox outfielder Dwight Evans becomes the first player to hit the first pitch on Opening Day for a home run. Jack Morris throws the gopher ball but gets the victory as Detroit edges Boston, 6 - 5, behind two home runs by Kirk Gibson.
