Detroit Tigers Team Notes Over 3 Million Views!!! Thankyou!

Probable pitching matchups vs. BAL: 5/31 Scherzer vs. Gonzalez, 6/1 Verlander vs. Hammel, 6/2 Porcello vs. Gausman. #Tigers

Miguel Cabrera is 3rd player - joining Ducky Medwick (453) and Albert Pujols (426) - to have at least 400 doubles through age-30 season.

Tigers not hitting on field before tonight's game in Baltimore, reason: late arrival, temp at 90 now and still climbing.

In Miguel Cabrera (59 RBI) and Prince Fielder (42), the Detroit Tigers have two of MLB?s top six RBI men in 2013. The 101 combined RBI for Cabrera and Fielder are the most among teammate duos in 2013; no other team has more than 85 RBI from a teammate pair, with the Baltimore Orioles? Chris Davis and Adam Jones at that figure.
Stats

Flyballs to outfielders and groundballs to infielders ? they?re just not cool anymore. These days, the strikeout is very much in vogue. In the 2008 season, the MLB-wide strikeout rate was 6.83 K?s per nine innings pitched, the highest that figure had ever been for a single season. In each subsequent year through 2012, a new league-wide high for strikeouts per nine innings was established: 6.99 whiffs per nine in 2009, 7.130 in 2010, 7.131 in ?11 and 7.56 a season ago. In 2013, MLB pitchers are working on a new all-time high for strikeout rate, fanning 7.62 hitters per nine innings. The Detroit Tigers (9.84), Boston Red Sox (9.14) and Cleveland Indians (8.81) are on pace to finish with the three highest single-season figures for strikeout rate among MLB teams in the modern era (1901 to present).

An official scoring change was announced Thursday.
Prince Fielder was charged with an error on a ball hit by Russell Martin of the Pittsburgh Pirates in the eighth inning Monday against Joaquin Benoit, but the play has been changed to a single for Martin. The scoring change adds a hit and an earned run to Benoit's totals.

Something to be aware of.....
Since Thursday, and
I notified the Administrator Mike before I left this morning. He is aware as he wrote back to me a few hours ago.

There is this Exploit HTML/frameRef.DM
says it's coming from tempfiles and there is something that shows in my Microsoft security essentials that it is coming from v.bulletin global and v.bulletin menu.
Before it was only doing it with Windows 7, now it is doing it with Google Chrome.

June 1 in Tigers and mlb history:

1917 - Hank Gowdy of the Boston Braves became the first major leaguer to enlist in World War I. Gowdy will also serve in World War II.

1925 - Lou Gehrig of the New York Yankees pinch-hits for Pee Wee Wanninger, beginning his streak of playing in 2,130 consecutive games. The next day, first baseman Wally Pipp shows up with the after-effects of a concussion, and Gehrig takes over.

1954 - Montreal Royals outfielder Roberto Clemente is discovered byPirates scout Clyde Sukeforth. Clemente is the Brooklyn Dodgers' five-toolfarmhand. Sukeforth is not primarily a scout but rather the Pirates' pitching coach on special assignment in Richmond to scout newly-demoted Dodger hurler Joe Black. Unfortunately for the Dodgers, the first thing Sukeforth sees is Clemente. From this moment forward, despite Dodger GM Buzzie Bavasi's desperate manoeuvering, his prize prospect is lost. As Sukeforth himself will later tell Les Biederman of The Sporting News: "I saw Clemente and forgot all about Black. I arrived at the Richmond ball park just in time to see the pre-game workout. I saw Clemente throwing from the outfield and I couldn't take my eyes off him. Later in the game he was used as a pinch-hitter and I liked his swing. I started asking questions and learned he was a bonus player and would be eligible for thedraft. Since the Pirates had first choice, I knew this would be our man. In fact, I told manager Max Macon to take good care of 'our boy' and see that he didn't get hurt."

June 2 in Tigers and mlb history:

1925 - 21-year-old Lou Gehrig starts a game for the New York Yankeeswhen regular first baseman Wally Pipp is hit in the head during batting practice and complains of a headache - in fact a concussion. Gehrig collects three hits in five at-bats, helping the Yankees to an 8 - 5 victory over the Washington Senators. Gehrig will go on to play in a major league record 2,130 consecutive games, a record since broken by Cal Ripken with a streak of 2,632.

1935: Babe Ruth of the Boston Braves announces his retirement from baseball. Struggling with a .181 batting average at the time, he retires with 714 home runs, by far the most in major league history. Ruth will gain election to the Hall of Fame as part of its inaugural class next year.

1941 - Lou Gehrig dies of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis at the age of 37 inNew York. From that time on, the illness wll be known primarily as "Lou Gehrig's Disease". Gehrig saw his major league record of 2,130 consecutive games played end because of the disease. It was on this day exactly 16 years ago that he broke into the Yankees' starting line-up.

1942 - Ted Williams of the Boston Red Sox enlists as a Naval Aviator. Williams will finish the season with his team, as will many other players who enlisted or await the draft, which moves slowly despite the early discouragements of the war. Other American League regulars of 1941 enlisted in the military service include Johnny Berardino, Sam Chapman, Bob Feller, Joe Grace, Buddy Lewis, Pat Mullin, Johnny Rigney, Johnny Sturm and Cecil Travis.

1950: George Kell of the Detroit Tigers hits for the cycle in the 16 - 5 second-game sweep of a doubleheader with thePhiladelphia Athletics. The Tigers win the opener, 8 - 2, behind the pitching of Ted Gray and home runs by Vic Wertzand Hoot Evers. Wertz has five runs batted in in the opener, and two more in the second game.

1958: Brooks Robinson of the Baltimore Orioles hits into a triple play against the Washington Senators. Robinson will hit into three more triple plays during his career, establishing a new major league record.

2010: Ken Griffey Jr. announces his retirement after 22 seasons in the major leagues. Hitting only .184 in part-time duty for the Mariners, he retires with 630 career home runs and six seasons of 40 or more homers. Most of his career was spent with Seattle and the Cincinnati Reds.

2010: Armando Galarraga throws a one-hitter in a 3 - 0 win over Cleveland but in the eyes of many observers, he has pitched a perfect game: the only baserunner he gives up comes with two outs in the 9th inning, when Jason Donaldis called safe on an infield hit by umpire Jim Joyce; however, replays show that the throw from 1B Miguel Cabrera to Galarraga beat Donald to the bag. The Tigers starter thus comes agonizingly close to pitching the third major league perfect game in only a month.

Struggling Quintin Berry designated for assignment; Tigers reacquire Francisco Martinez.

Tigers reacquire prospect Martinez from Mariners.
Third baseman had been sent to Seattle when Detroit landed Fister.
Francisco Martinez, arguably the key prospect of the package the Tigers sent to Seattle to get Doug Fister, is headed back to the Detroit organization. The Tigers reacquired him for a player to be named or cash considerations, which the Mariners have to decide on by June 15.

Martinez was the Tigers' fourth-ranked prospect two years ago. Martinez, who was in the All-Star Futures Game along with Jacob Turner in 2011, was third baseman at Double-A Erie whose power was projected to blossom once he grew into his frame. It didn't happen in Seattle's system.

Martinez hit .227 (80-for-352) with 16 doubles, two homers and 23 RBIs at Double-A Jackson last year, and was batting just .206 (26-for-126) at the same level this season before the M's designated his contract for assignment on May 27 to make room for middle infielder Nick Franklin on the 40-man roster.

At some point last season, the Mariners began shifting Martinez from third base to center field. However, the Tigers are expected to move him back to third on a full-time basis.

Martinez is the second player from the Fister trade the M's have moved this year. They let go of Casper Wells at the end of Spring Training. Their remaining players from the Fister trade are lefty Charlie Furbush, who is in Seattle's bullpen, and right-hander Chance Ruffin, who's in the rotation at Double-A Jackson.

The Tigers have optioned Martinez one step down to Class A Lakeland starting out, but they had to make room for him on the 40-man roster. To do that, they've designated for assignment the contract of Quintin Berry, potentially ending a whirlwind 12-month stretch for the speedy outfielder.

Berry was the unsung hero of the Tigers' 2012 season, turning a midseason call-up as an injury replacement into a regular spot on the 25-man roster, and nearly made the team out of camp this spring. His season at Triple-A Toledo so far has been a perplexing plummet. His .168 average (28-for-167) includes a .106 clip in May. His speed hasn't fallen off, having stolen 15 bases in 17 tries, but a .278 on-base percentage hasn't allowed him to use that skill much.

The Tigers have 10 days to either trade Berry, release him or outright him to Toledo. He would have to go unclaimed on waivers to be outrighted.

Cabrera, Scherzer earn club honors for May.
Miguel Cabrera will have to wait until Monday to see whether he wins American League Player of the Month honors for his 12-homer, 33-RBI performance in May. His Tigers Player of the Month Award, as voted on by Detroit media, was a no-brainer.

As well as Jhonny Peralta hit in May, deserving some sort of recognition for his .362 average and 17 runs scored, he wasn't going to beat out Cabrera, whose 12 homers matched Willie Horton's 1968 total for most by a Tiger in the month of May.

Cabrera's 44 hits were the most by a Tiger in May since Ron LeFlore had 45 in 1976.

Max Scherzer earned Tigers Pitcher of the Month honors after posting a 4-0 record with a 3.00 ERA and 45 strikeouts in as many innings. He averaged 7 1/2 innings per start.
